Talking Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE eBay wreck soon to become my Turbo Mid Restore

Hi Guys,

I received this sorry sight today but at least it came with a decent condition 240st motor, was that standard issue with the Turbo Mid SE?

I'm going to buy lots of replacement bits and you'll get a pic in a few weeks of the finished result....

Need to swap these platinum shocks for golds somehow. Anyone interested?

Is it just as dirty under the lid? I might be interested in the shocks? But not to swap, just to buy. Let me know if you would like to sell at some point and maybe we can have a deal?
I look fwd to seeing this again once you finish restoring it

This is what greeted me under the shell

Already binned the random undertray.
Wheels and body on eBay as we speak.
Bought a new chassis and top deck.
Have new wheels.
Bought new belt.
Bought new gear and belt covers.
Need the proper shock towers as it has the metal mid ones on it.
Lots of cleaning to do. Lots of rust and cobwebs!

Can't do anything til end of August as I'm on holidays at the moment.

Dan

This brings back alot of memories, the last RC I owned back in the day was a Turbo Optima Mid SE that I bought brand new. I need to find the pics of it and scan them, they aren't that flash pics but still.
I did mine as per box art, and it did have the 240ST motor with it from new.
I always thought it was odd that it did not have the adjustable turnbuckles like the Turbo Mid

I think I will do a SWB Mid shelfer at some point in addition to the other projects.

I used the mechanical speed controller for some time and it worked quite well but was glad to move to an ESC when funds permitted

What I would love to see is a Saddle pack SWB chassis that looks decent, I guess just a shortened version of the Kyosho LWB one

Dan, are you willing to trade your metal optima mid towers with a set of frp shock towers ?

Cheers
