Hi there,

You have Swindon about 25 minutes away and also Chippenham race 1:10 Electric Off-Road buggies and SC trucks outdoors during the summer.

There are a lot of guys from this area that come to HNMC in the summer 2.5 hours drive for our race meetings sure you could hook up with them.

Sadly you will find yourself in no man's land for competitive 1/10th off road, out of the bottom of the middle West region but not really in either mid south or South West regions either.

Clubs wise you have Yatton (indoor) & worm outdoor not too far away.
You also have Swindon close.
Ledbury isn't far

I'm in Cheltenham, also part of the no man's land :'(

I'll repeat the mention of WORM (Weston-super-Mare) and Yatton, and add Caldicot RC Racers to that list, as it's only an hour from Cirencester.

All have sections on here if you poke around.

WORM run roughly fortnightly on the outdoor astro track, and when the weather is bad Yatton take up the meeting at their indoor venue for us as they are just up the road!

Caldicot run every Friday night all year round indoors and run 10th and micro offroad. It's just the other side of the Severn Bridge, but don't let the bridge toll put you off...the racing only costs £2 per night for members, £3 for non members, so no worse than going to most other clubs in total! There are a good few who come from other side of the bridge (me included!) and it's always a good nights racing

It depends on what you are looking for and how far you think it is sensible to travel.

For example myself and Adam U have been going to Silverstone on a Saturday for their winter series, that is a 200 mile round trip but we think the quality of the tracks make it worthwhile.

Typically a 'regional' will be about 150+ miles round trip for us (now Ledbury aren't doing 1/10th regionals anymore that might be more like 200 miles round trip on average ).

A "club" meeting means 100 miles round trip for us (Caldicot, Yatton or WORM) but obviously a little less for you.

If you love racing off-road then TBH it's an unfortunate situation you are going to have to live with if you want to be in that (this) part of the world.

Just make sure your employer understands that they are going to have to pay you extra to cover all your extra travelling when you move

... just so that you know ... WORM will be holding both a 2wd and a 4wd regional this year .... so that 50 miles knocked off

Yep...Pete is right, WORM is in the SW region...Si does know this...honest!

Roger competing in the South West region instead of the Mid West from Cheltenham would only save him miles for WORM rounds...add in the other venues...Tiverton, West Cornwall and Torbay (if they get it together for this year) and he'd be well up on miles

I've just looked...there is about 3hrs travelling time between WORM and the West Cornwall club...and that's before before you add on travel time from Cheltenham to WORM for Roger!

I guess been in Cirencester theirs probably no advantage to racing in South West or Mid West regions. As they say the SW has Worm, Tiverton, West Cornwall and Torbay, whilst the Mid West has Kidderminster, Coventry, Hinkley, Telford and Oswestry, so similar distances which ever direction you go.

As to a local club you have Swindon which is probably about 20mins away, up here in Gloucester my nearest club, is probably nearer an hour away.
