Motor suitability for Durga
Hi everyone,
I'm very new to all this and have just a quick question about upgrading the motor in my new Durga. I installed an Mtroniks Viper Eco20 ESC in the car and my question is whether this http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...n&ItemID=22489 would be suitable for my setup? Not planning on racing or anything like that in the near future, at least, just sure that soon I'll be wanting to upgrade the vanilla 540. If that one is not suitable could anyone recommend one that might be? I have a slipper clutch on order . . . . ! Thanks in advance. |

I would suggest a good quality 27turn stock motor, the one you suggest I don't think can be rebuilt so when the motor goes off it can't be serviced properly. I bet a good 27t stock will be every bit as quick as that 21turn as well. It will be more expensive though.

Hi
Yeah, the Fireball 21 double would work fine. The general rule of thumb is to leave allow a difference in the numbers in order to avoid the ESC running on its limit, ie. 15 turn limit ESC = 17 turn motor, 11 turn limit ESC = 13 turn motor etc. I think you will be happy with that combo for the moment, you will certainly notice an increase in performance over the standard 540 motor. But believe me, you will soon get bitten by the NEED FOR SPEED!!!

One the std Mtronics speedo's are not great they go up in smoke easily.
And also the venom motors are not very good at all. A

This is all good- like I said I'm a noob to this, and so it's great to find a forum like this where there's a lot of knowledge floating around. It saves a lot of wasted time and money!
I expect I'll buy a motor upgrade in the short term and if I really get bitten by the bug, buy a brushless system a few months down the line or when my ESC pops- whichever happens first Can anybody name a good motor that would suit my needs? I'd spend, say £30 or less at this time. thanks guys |
