Up Grades for TT01 (starter car)
i have a TT01 and this is my first road electric car and i am after some hop ups etc and am after some ideas.
i do have a questions 1. what is the main differance between a brushed and brushless motor i am looking for maybe a new esc and motor with a budget of around £150 for both, but i do want something i could put into a new car as i get further into road cars i will be runing this car for a short time then look at getting a new car any help would be great |

Brushed and brushless motors are a totally different kind of construction.
Brushless is the new technology. It is more efficient and allows you to run hotter motors than you ever could with brushed, with almost zero maintenance. I don't know enough about the budget systems around for £150 but I would definitely recommend you get a sensored brushless system, not a sensorless. Sensored have better throttle control and are easier to run with the race legal motors (10.5 etc as you will see mentioned in forums). Electric motors in 1/10th scale cars are a standard size so any system you buy for a TT01 can be transferred to your new car when you choose to upgrade. To be honest a TT01 drivetrain can't handle a great deal of power without self destructing so you may be upgrading the chassis sooner than you think! |

The TT01 is fine for you to get up to speed with racing. My mate had one and did very well with his and was always getting in the A-final at our local club. Obviously when you start spending cash on Hop-ups then the car can soon add up the costs. But building the car up slowly is a valuable way to learn all the variables for tuning your car.
I'm going to assume you have the std TT01: I've included links to the tamiya site for the parts so you can see the product number, but teh prices you can buy them for are much cheaper than their RRP when you search rcmart / fusion hobbies / ebay etc oh and I'm going to try to be comprehensive, so appologies in advance if it sounds like I'm asking you to suck eggs etc 1) Ball bearings: check EBay for tt01 bearings you can get a set for less than a tenner, absolutely essential if you want your car to run smooth and fast. 2) Aluminium prop shaft: The plastic prop shaft bends and wobbles with a std 540 motor. Get rid of it and replace it with this http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53620 3) CVA shocks: The car will come with std friction shocks these are nasty. Replace them with some oil shocks. Tamiyas Std plastic oil shocks are fine, the trf ones look nicer but are not really much difference in performance. You can get cheaper blue alloy ones like 3 racing ones. These again are ok. Once you get oil shocks you can change the oil types to effect the handling. plastic ones: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53619 trf ones: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=42102 4) Spring set: You will need a range of springs to use with the new shocks, this spring set will give you soft-hard springs so you can tune your car's handling. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53163 5) Pinions: These will help you change your gear ratio to get your car best sorted to the track. You want to be full speed 3/4 the way down the longest straight as a rule of thumb. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=50356 http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=50357 6) universal shafts: These are good especially when you start running a hot motor. You dont need them all around. (although you can do it) You only really need them in the front. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53792 and you need these as well to go into the diffs http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53790 7) carbon top-deck: this is good only if you want to make the car stiffer. We race on a high grip indoor circuit (carpet and foams). so this was a good hop-up. IF you have teh tt01-E you already have a top-deck albeit a plastic one. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53672 8) Stabilisers: These can be good for you if you want to run a really stiff car, they can help limit the amount of rool. These are definately not an essential upgrade some guys like them some dont, see how the others go. Rear http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53695 front http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53694 Motors / electrics Get an ezrun 9t combo from ebay. (search for ezrun or hobbywing) Its fast, cheap and reliable. Lots of people race them (myself included) and they are fantastic value for money. They will cost you around £50 Including postage from hong kong. You get a motor, ESC and a program card. The 9t combo is quicker than a 19t motor but you can change the timing to slow it down a bit. So for your £150, you can get an Ez-run combo and buy alot of the hop-ups above. or you could get an ezrun and look for a 2nd hand ta05 which has alot of the hop-ups already and more adjustibility (there is one on the Forums atm I think). I cant stress enough how good the ez-runs are. |

really for a club car, none unless you want stabilsers (£10) and maybe carbon shock mounts front and back (£5 each) or just £5 if you get an ifs.
The car is ball raced, tuned for racing, hass ball diffs cva oils hocks etc. Its a fantastic car, and is tough and fast. |

yeah, them ta05ifsr's do look sweet
If you get the R, all the hop-ups you need will be on it, such as - TRF shocks (which are excellent) and the sway bar set
