Be careful, if your going to do BRCA events then the motor needs to be on the homologation list.

With this in mind from purely a price / performance balance the Losi combos look very good value. I've not used them myself but have seen lots of them run and they seem to be a match for anything out there!

Ez-runs are great

I have several that I race including the 9t combo and the 5.5t combo, they are fast and have not given me any faults in about 10 months of racing. everyone else I know that also has them have only good things to say about them.

£75 will get you a 5.5t motor , esc and program card. £58 will get you a 9t motor, esc and program card. its a no brainer.

I was in this exact same dilemma about 2 weeks ago, after reading posts on here n chatting to a few folk, I thought I'd give the EZ run on the ebay a go, I have had it running for 2 weeks and my car is as quik as most other and faster than alot, no issues to speak of and the motor and esc arrived within a week. Clearly i've only had it 2 weeks so it could yet have a catastrophic failure on me but I took the view that no one has reported this (unlike the Losi) and if it does well i'l take a £70 risk every day of the week.
I went for the more expensive 5.5 system though!

P.s. previous to this I bought a second hnd esc on here and had troubles getting it to run, although I had it fixed by some 1 it was still more hassle than it was worth and always was going to be 2nd hand!

I have a Losi and would recommend them, we have at least half a dozen at the club.

The initial problems occured with the firmware update, the ESC themselves were not faulty and all problems were corrected very quickly by Horizon UK.

With the latest Software and firmware they perform extremely well, the motors are on par with more expensive makes.

Add the ability to adjust many of the settings of the ESC via the pc and the value for money is very hard to beat

Its funny this, since the same thing happened with the Novak Mongoose micro speedo's, yet at our club we have about 8 of them running regularly, and none of them have gone pop yet??? Seems to me that peoples gearing is slightly out, as I had 2 Novak GTB's and nothing happened to them as well...

Regarding the EZ Run
1. Do they have a Lipo cut off
2. Are they a standard shaft diameter for pinions

Just saying that we have been using them without problems, perhaps we get our gearing and programming correct.

From what I hear the latest Nosram & equiv with the super program 8 mode (at nearly twice the price for just the ESC) are frying motors, does that make them bad? No - but makes gearing even more crucial with them or they will fry your motors.

The Losi from our experience is excellent value for money and I repeat we have not had any problems except the initial problem of upgrading the firmware. In every day use they perform exceptionally well
