GP 4300 35C

If you shop online (outside UK) you can pick them up for about $60.

Just changed over to these from the Team Orion 3800 30C.

Have you had a look at the Vampire Lipo's from DMS?

They do a 4000 35C or 5200 30C, both of which are really good and have plenty of power.

It's bizarre, this battery says "4000mAh typical" even though it's named "4300"
Also, I can't find it on the GP batteries web site

I get the impression we are now flooded by new lipo batteries.

But we don't know what to choose(I am in that case)

We can only trust the stickers about annouced "mAh" & announced "xxC"
Most of the brands writing the sticker did not design nor manufacture the battery, their are sourced from the far east factories

Designing a sticker does not have much merit in my eyes...

I did appreciate the openess of orion who quoted the name of their battery manufacturer(in South Korea)

Given the cost of those, would be nice to be reassured about their real origin(beyond the sticker...). I am sure we would be surpised by the number of sticker-differing batt that are actually the same.

i have ftx fury with 11.1v 70c 7800mah, 89000000kv motor.
good for 290mph speed runs, outruns coppers easy.
goint to upgrade my motorbike (cbr 600) to run on this setup also, faster than space shuttle.

there have been health warnings in hong kong about using lipo batteries in marital aids, also warnings on lithium polymer powered exaggeration.

I'm starting to look at LIPOs too due to the 2nd hand IB4200 cells playing up.

Can you run LIPOs with any ESC? I ask this as I have a LRP 7.1 in the car at the mo, but a Sphere on order. However if there isn't the need for the Sphere I may move it on.

I'll be running a Team Orion 12 x 2 Revolution in my B4 and want so recommendations please

I've got a Prodigi II Pro Peak charge at the mo.

You can run lipo with any esc but it's dangerous to use it with the older brushed escs as they don't have lipo cut off so if you run your lipo flat you can risk permanent dangerous damage to your lipo so you have to be extra carefull and make sure you don't run the lipo flat.

You will need a lipo charger if yours doesn't charge lipo? Which could be quite expensive if you want a good quality one.

i have also just bought a b4, and am after lipo advice, for a value for money pack.
i have used lipo in my 1/18 scale cars, and there is a great improvement in performance, even when using brushed motors.
you will be able to use your brushed esc no problem.

So will the Sphere that I've bought from you have cut off etc? My Pro-peak Charger says it can do LIPO, but I'd nead a balancer etc?

I was going to buy a Spintec for my NIMHs, but thought about spending the money on 2 x LIPOs instead etc. and giving up with the dead NIMHs. Write the money off etc.

What was on my shopping list:
Spintec charger for the remaining IB4200 cells - 3 left (only just bought them 2nd hand off here )
KO Helios 2.4Ghz set-up
LIPO cells x 1 or 2

There is an easy, cheap solution to using lipos with older escs. You can buy cutout devices (Novak and LRP do them) but what the flyers do is fit a simple warning light.
The whole thing cost me £6 and its basically a voltage detector and a bright red LED. You get them in set voltages for 1S, 2S, 3S etc. The 2S goes off when the pack drops below about 7 volts (3.5V per cell)
You place the LED somewhere visible (I used the window) and stop when the light comes solid on - it will flash sometimes if you accelerate hard as the voltage drops due to current draw.

As for what pack to use - C rating is much more important than capacity. Because Lipos have lower internal resistance than NiMH you actually use less capacity ie a 4200 Lipo runs longer than a 4200NiMH.
Couple that with a brushless motor and I've managed to complete a 4wd race, outdoors with a 5.5 motor powered by an 1800mAh pack from a micro! So pretty much any size will do.

Default robitronic lipo

Ive just taken delivery of a Robitronic 4600 saddle pack lipo for my Yokomo B-Max.
Has anyone used these, they come with a lead that has a built in 2mm balance connector as apposed to the pin type plugs ive seen on other packs.

Does anyone know what i need to connect this balance cable to my charger?

My charger Is the Fusion LX60B and has polyquest, flightpower and thunder power boards but all these are multi pin type connectors im a bit confused.

I used to run Demon 4000 & 5000 Lipos, but has to sell up due to the BRCA legal issues . Running a Trakpower 4900 which is very good. Touring car does a 5 min run and only needs 800 putting back in, and I am runnig brushless
