Default Calling it a day.....for good.

Hi all.

After 17 years of painting shells I've decided to call it a day.

As you all know I came back to painting the shells after a short absence whilst jeanette had our twins.
I've been painting them for about 3 months now and have realised that its not possible to complete work for people within 'reasonable' time limits, and that is just not acceptable for me. If I can't get work out quick enough then its not worth doing.

The kids just need too much of my (and jeanette's) attention/time, and its not possible to juggle both. And I'm affraid the family comes first always.

If I have one of your shells in to paint then don't worry, I will complete the work I have in, but will be taking no more work on.
So PLEASE DON'T send me any more requests for jobs doing.

Thank you to all that have trusted my unsteady hands on their shells, and sorry to anyone that was thinking of getting work done by me.

So, its good night from me......

Are you serious dude...? you are legend!!!

You'll be sorely missed man... you did a shell for my bro' back in the day, it was a real class job... well, who knows, one day when the bambinos ask "What did you used do daddy...?" you can reply "I painted shells my children...'n I was pretty good too...!"

Have a good time man, they are not kids long sadly... Hey, if one, or both of 'em show a bit of promise in the painting dept dust down the old air brush and show 'em what it's all about...

All the best to you and the family dude... adios amigo...

Really sorry to hear that Tel but at the end of the day family comes first. I would have loved to have my shells done but I can understand your reasons for hanging up the airbrush. Stll a sad day tho .

Cheers people.
You're making me blush.
I never consider myself as a legend.

I thought it would be easy to come back......but it wasn't!!

Last week was a good example, I didn't feel too good from mon to wed. Normally I would have just got out in the shed and got the shells done for the nat. But my heart wasn't in it, so didn't want to just do the shells and mess them up for the sake of doing them.

Then, one of the twins wasn't well at the end of the week too. So that took up both mine and jeanettes time to look after them both and our 7yr old!
Not easy.

BUt its not just when illness occur, its getting that they need looking after ALL the time now....they've started moving around quicker than I thought they would!

I know how you feel Tell, fortunately, my youngest is 7 next week, and your time just changes from making sure that they aren't in the cupboard under the sink, to running them to after school clubs, friends, parties, then it leaves painting till the evening or night.

Just paint for fun now dude, and leave it like that, no stress, no deadlines!!

Thats my plans matey.
Just mag stuff now, as its not as 'pressurized'.

I've done the 'evening' painting before when my oldest was born, and you just end up not seeing the family at all. I was working back then though so things were different. but I still wouldn't see much of my oldest. And being up 'til 3 in the morning, in the freezing cold isn't much fun....never mind the amount of electricity you're using to heat/light the shed. Doing it that way makes it not worth doing at all.
