if you have the latest software, I would suggest a starting point of around 5.9

Cheers. Not sure what software version a new unit will have.

Doubt I will be buying the Hotwire initially.

where to are you, there may be a team driver, or, someone in your area who could set your RS up with the latest firmware. To get the most out of the RS, you need access to the hotwire.

Hey guys.

I know the motor limit of the RS is 5.5, but what about in a 4wd buggy? We all know 4wd buggy taxes an esc more than any other class, so I'm curious if in that case, the esc would overheat with a 5.5 (assuming an air temp of something average, around 21c)? If it will, at what turn motor does it become safe again to run in a 4wd?

How much does air temp affect the esc temp? Say it's 21c out, and the esc is running at 60c. If the air temp raises to 32, will the esc's temp raise the same amount, to 71c?

One last thing, I know the RSs are great escs, but I live where it gets to 46c+ in the summer. At that temp, I think even an rs pro may overheat, what can I do to keep its temp down? Should I run a smaller pinion, is it worth it to thermal glue a heatsink to the esc and attach a fan, etc?

Thanks
Chris

I would say, if your running mod, in a 4wd buggy, then you should spend the extra and buy the Pro, it is just far safer and more versatile.

Temp, if it is hot where you race, run a small fan, to blow over the solder posts, and ensure you got holes in the shell to allow cool air in and hot air out.

How many people are running the new turbo feature etc. as just contemplating updating to the 200 software, but not sure what to do with the 7.5 in the Cat SX

not a good idea in 4wd, I have used it in the SC10 though.

V200 is good to have, but you just won't need the turbo feature in 4wd.

Installed the software, but it doesn't list the 200 software for the ESC, just the 198

Hi All,

Wonder if any of you could answer this question for me...

I bought my son the R1 with the 537 motor as it said it was a 5 turn (I now realise that 5 turns on some motors do not mean 5 turn as per my novak)...

Anyway, what I would like to know what is the highest KV motor I can run on the R1(NOT PRO) as all the instructions say is up to 5 turns !!!

I think that the 537 motor I bought is about 3700kv where as my 5.5 novak for instance is about 7700kv..

So if I bought a sensorless motor to work with the R1 that was say the equivalent of 7000kv would that work and would it be safe and not blow the speedo ???

Any help appreciated...

Thanks

Lee
