converting a Mugen MBX-4 XR
hmmm, I think my nitro engine is gone, instead of buying a new one, converting
to brushless is an idea. But where do I get the motor mount? Is there a conversion kit maybe for the MBX-5 that I could use? I read the beginners guide (really good) but I've no clue where to get this mount... Thanks Micha |

I think you'll have to look at US websites to find the bits you need.
You'll need a motor mount, battery box, pinions, a Lipo or two and a brushless ESC and motor. Motor Mount: RC-Monster make a 'Mugen' motor mount that also fits the MBX-4. Battery Box: RC-Monster also make a battery tray that comes in a couple of preset sizes, or you can type in custom dimensions, and get a box made to fit your battery perfectly. You may need to drill and countersink a couple of holes in your chassis. Pinions: RC-Monster make Mod1 pinions (with a 5mm bore). For gearing, see my beginner's guide. Novak also make good pinions, though these might be better available in your area. Losi also make pinions Robinson racing make 5mm Mod1 pinions too Lipos: I covered these in the beginner's guide, any good, established brand will be fine. ESC: I would say, for simplicity, get the Mamba Monster Max ESC from Castle Creations. It is reliable, can take a wide range of voltages, and comes with PC programming software for free. Motor: Either a Hacker C50-xxL or a C50-xxXL motor, a Neu 1512 or 1515, a Losi 1/8 motor, or a Lehner (though I'm not too sure of the model number) would be good and reliable. Hope this has helped |
