Having larger DIFFballs means larger area that have contact with the rings and less pressure is necessary. Much like wider tyres on a car.

But Tamiya balls have always been 3mm. Perhaps your comparing them to other brands of vehicles?

no, I didn't, the thread is about a review of diff balls, not centre diff balls , they were 3mm though

Well if you want to go that route.........Your so-called Egress ball diffs are actually an Avante hop-up released at the same time as the Avante back in 1988. Therefore the Avante did have front & rear ball diffs (w/ 3mm balls)...
