Onroad tires for D4
I am wondering if I can throw some other tires onto the D4 and make it a parking-lot racer? I have never been a fan of the touring class due to the unrealistic ground clearance (for normal street playing) and do not like the look of the truck category. I used to mount foam/sponge tires onto my Kyosho Optima (yes long time ago) for parking lot racing, and imo, that was the funnest, most practical way to run on a parking lot.
What tires (rubber or sponge) would fit on the D4 that would be suitable for parking lot racing? Thanks in advance. |

Proline do some 'dirt hawg' tires or something like that, they might be pretty cool.

Thanks.
Wonder why they have a more appropriate tires for the 1:8 buggy class, but not the 1:10. See this: http://www.prolineracing.com/product...product&id=208 this would be nice if they come out in a 1:10 version. |

Do the 1:10 truck tires/wheels fit the 1:10 buggy?

I think that Schumacher do some buggy sized on road tyres that are advertised for the rascal truck.

I used to do quite a bit of on-tarmac racing with 1/10th off rodad cars back in the late 80'8, early 90's.. i remember Racing in Stafford and Telfords on Tarmac with my Hotshot II. I used foam tyres back then, it was great fun!
I have not seen any 1/10th off road tarmac racing since i got back into RC three years ago Neil |

Yes! That's what I am talking about! 1:10 buggies with foam tires (and i would imagine, now with rubber ties) are great fun! I find the ground clearance much more practical then the touring cars... I hope this form of racing makes a come back!

Schumacher used to make some on road tyres that had a "S" patern on them but not to sure if they still make them. They were the dogs back in the day befor boring cars when we had big shells on our buggys

D4 rims with Dirt Hawgs on My DI
I put D4 rims on my DI because I wanted bright dish wheels so I can do a custom paint job on them. I'm actually thinking about slapping some decals on them.
But I was talking to a friend of mine and he was told his E-Revo stock tires would get shredded on the street and that he should get street rubber. I noticed my Dirt Hawg tires are just as soft and roll quite a bit under my 18T motor. I feel like I should go with a harder rubber or risk shredding these tires prematurely. I can only assume that Dirt Hawgs are designed for dirt. Can someone recommend a harder tire with smoother treads. Something that is more street instead of the thick treaded Dirt Hawgs? |

I was disappointed when I bought a set of dirt Hawgs for my Kyosho Lazer for this purpose.
The plus point is they will last forever (one of the reasons I wanted them), but thats about it. They are very big and flabby compared to a normal buggy tire, big diameter so changes gearing, poor grip, just wasnt fun to drive. |

As far as rough dirt I like the "flab". They really lay into the dirt for a lot of grab. Maybe a stronger foam insert would fix things a bit for street. But they are already glued until death on my D4 rims. I'll post if I can find something at my local hobby shop.

http://modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunctio...n&ItemID=29893 front and rears that fit, worth a try '2.2" performance street tyres provide exceptional wear and sticky traction for high-speed asphalt action. Fits Traxxas and other standard 2.2" buggy wheels.'

Ive run the 2.2 truck ones they do on a Rustler and they were cool.
