Ha, so funny! I did the exact same thing yesterday.
For some reason I can't explain, the inner part of the tube that normally holds these 2 screws has broken off in my car. I'm baffled as to how this can happen. On the outside there's nothing to be seen, but on the inside it's broken? |

We reckon the screws that go through the top plate into the chassis are too short, so in a collision they just rip out the side. I ran all day with a slightly cracked chassis and a longer screw through the top plate into what was left of that part of the chassis and it was fine. What dave has done is essentially used a longer screw to create a strengthening bar all the way through. We will see if it survives in the capabable hands Demolition man ash tonight!!

I did a similar thing with mine n Maxs; I used longer screws from the bottom then measured how much depth I had from the top and used screws just short of this length from the top; In essence what I have is these 2 screws meeting in the middle.
I'm not sure how effective this is, as at about the same time I made and fitted our 2mm alloy plate underneath (seen on another thread) |

Has anyone broken a Stick pack chassis or is it just the saddle pack chassis that are breaking?

Mine is a stick pack.
The annoying thing is, when the chassis broke I didn't notice anything, but then suddenly a few laps later my car wouldn't turn anymore. Because the screw had come loose, the top part of the nose was loose also, and before I knew it, two of the steering bearings were gone on one side... |

The only problem I can see with this is that you're moving the stress point somewhere else.
