after another great bit of racing at TORCH today i am now even closer to using the last pair of brushes for my trusty checkpiont - the days of brushless are nearly upon me
![]() However having never run with a brushless motor (apart from one race with Dan Browns sx2) i have no idea what turn motor to get - either a 6.5 or 7.5. what do most of you guys run for 2wd? Cheers Chris B |

7.5 most places, 6.5 at places with long straights and on off power.
I would go for a 7.5 95% off the time. |

10.5
![]() In all seriousness my 10.5 is not far off the pace so if I was buying new I think I might go 8.5 and run a bit of dynamic timing depending on the conditions, easy to tweak up or down. Nick |

My money would be on an Orion VST Pro motor (once the BRCA legal ones are in the uK), 7.5 or 6.5
If you don't want to spend that much, what about an HPI PS I have an ORCA 7.5 for sale and quite probably a HPI 6.5 too |

Cheers Ian - the last time i saw you it was at the Tiverton Winter Series and i borrowed your Team Almighty Cells for a couple of races!! (my long term memory is still good!! haha) that was years ago!!
Thanks Nick - i'll admit your 22 isnt short of pace - but that's a third option!! hahaha this is difficult enough as it is!! |

I have an old LRP Speedo with a nosram 7.5 in my spares as an emergency/wet conditions backup. You are welcome to try it for a race meeting to see if 7.5 is enough before you spend your cash. It's not the latest stuff and i haven't used it for ages so if it sets fire to you car i can't take the blame
![]() Anyway if you want to try it, just let me know and i'll bring it with me next time. |

I have an 8.5 tuned up but I am going to get a good 6.5 just think you need it for that extra kick to keep up at torch

I admit the idea of a 6.5 is getting my attention. Currently run a brushed 10x2 which is holding it's own down the straight and has enough punch while I've been getting my eye back in. If there was a straight comparrison for that in a brushless motor this would be very easy! Haha
But then again getting a decent 7.5 with a good speedo all setup correctly would probably be easier to drive consistently and probably faster overall. Oh the dilemma!! ![]() |
