Tyres
Just sorting myself out with tyres and was wondering what people recommend. Dave included some Schumacher Mini Pins for the rear, so that's sorted, and I'm guessing I'll need the same up front??
What do you all use? |

stagger ribs on the front, otherwise you end up with too much steering.

Cheers Dave, although I notice that you were running slim rims/tyres, whereas I'm running standard width front rims. Would your recommendation still hold true for normal width rims, or would I be better going down the route of mini pins up front, but with several rows of pins cut from the edges of the tyre?

Dave will have trimmed them wheels down to fit the tyres so they were originally wide ones. You could remove the old tyres. Dave only used to use a few spots of glue to mount them so they should pull off with a bit of levering with a flat screwdriver.

Ah, I get you now. Dave did say that he'd cut the wheels down, but to me they looked like they'd been made that way. having just looked at them again I can see what he meant.
Nice one. Thanks |

Sorry guys, more dum questions.
The JConcepts Rulux wheels aren't so easy to cut down as normal dish wheels. The internal bead stops that go around the wheel are not the same height as the outer bead faces, so the tyre doesn't seal as good and could pop off. I could glue them on both sides, but just wondering if there would be an issue. What about the Cut Stagger tyres? I've read these are wider than the slim fit stagger's and will fit normal sized front wheels. Are they any good? What about foam inserts for these - I've read that you don't run these tyres with inserts at all. Does that mean I would still stick with medium density inserts for the rear? Thanks |

I don't think the internal bead is the same height on any wheel as the outer bead. Should stay on if you glue it correctly. Can't remeber if I have ever cut down rulux wheels but I am sure plenty of people have.
You don't need foam for the standard staggers, the design of the tyre itself means that they are not necessary. Cut staggers are designed more conventionally and do require foam inserts. They will stretch over the wider wheels. Havent used them myself on carpet but I know Chris petch is using them and they seem to work ok. I found outside the cut staggers gave me too much steering but other people liked them.
