Yes that looked really planted and fast on track, amazing design still to be winning races now.

It must be 15+ year old design?

xx4 is prob one of the best/longlasting designs of car ever, second only to the RC10! I think the original xx4 maybe be a little older than 15years?

if the car was a little stronger and spairs were avalable it would still be very popular today!

That is why the CAT SX uses the front geometry and now the SX3 uses a similar layout.

Think I recall that Kevin Moore took the magnesium chassis'd prototype to the 1996 Euro's with Pops and Junior after testing at Eden Park!
Think he TQ'd but finished second behind Craig I believe!
And he wan't thank me for reminding him of that!

Best I check!

I was there and watched the finals. The XX4 was carried to the track in a bag and they pitted under the table so noone would see the car. It went really well on the grass at Lille! Pops and Junior were really friendly and approachable too I remember.

Yes the Xx4 and BJ4/44 must go down as legendary designs and still winning today!

Just had a look in an old copy of Model Cars from 1996, the XX4 was £329.99!

Rear Anti Roll Bar
Rear Shock Tower Brace
Looks like LMR Rear Wing or copy!

.....and who knows what's going on under those belt covers?

with a tentioner you can run a trf 511 belt in the rear since the teeth are the same but 511 belt is longer..

Wouldn't this alter the internal ratio ?

No, the internal ratio is set by the number of teeth on the pulleys/gears the belt makes no change whatever the length.

Are you sure ?
if you lengthen the rear belt the spur layshaft would make more turns to get the diff to rotate.
plus the front and rear diffs would rotate at different speeds due to the longer rear belt.

The belt length is the same as an idler gear in a 2WD gearbox, it makes no difference at all to the ratio.
