Used a Novak Ballistic in my AE TC5R and it was very good, fast and reliable.

HTH.

I have an LRP x12 10.5 and Novak ballistic 10.5.

I personal prefere the LRP x12 it seems to have more torque and is faster than the Novak.

Reedy Sonic gets my vote !
Super smooth and none of the heat issues like the X12

HPI Flux Pro looks well priced.

If using dynamic timing advance, Speed Passion v3 and GM are popular. If not, the X12 series looks good, as it has more timing clocked in, which also explains the heat.

If you're not limited to the BRCA list, Demon have the Graupner Sport Ultra Torque 10.5, which is a freakishly powerful motor - it has a massively torquey rotor (you can barely turn it by hand), runs really cool, and performs like a modified. Very naughty if using in a stock class!

There aren't any bad choices - with brushless, it's all good. What ESC are you intending to use?

x12. 10.5s run pretty hot at the boost you will need to use and the x12 will take it the best

I've heard that team drivers who run the lrp's run them very hot
Also heard once that a guy did cooked it so hot that the color was changing without damaging the motor! It was in offroad so I don't know about the timing...

Default 10.5

I thought that the idea of running in a 10.5 class, was that you use the motor as is, without any adjustments to give it a gain over another motor?

The lrp drivers so run there motors very hot as they don't seem to mind it at all and are knows as the fastest motor if you can set it up correct just make sure you turn down the speedo a fair bit before you run it or you will cook the motor I tend to run about 15 degree less timing with my lrp x12 On my gm speedo than when I use a gm motor.

I've seen a few people try run the SP motors in 10.5 but seems to struggle to get any reali pace out of them. I personally like the look of the reedy lrp and gm motors.
Lrp for pure performance but get hot so can fade towards the end of a run
GM reliable and hardly slower and run much cooler just don't exceed 80 external temp.
Reedy seems to be inbertween, run abit hotter than gm but not as bad as lrp and hav performance between them both but very smooth.
These would be my personal choices

GM's new motor has just been launched, and looks quite promissing so far from what we've seen. Definately a fair amount more power than last year's GM.

Chris, Looking at purely pictures of the Reedy and Vampire (I've had a GM apart, so know what they look like internally!), I'd say that the Reedy looks completely different - as the outer can / sleeve looks more LRP like.

However, by pictures alone, Darren may have a point!! Although, as the OP was after a 10.5 motor, Vampire doesn't look to be an option for him
