Rebuild with the correct smart diff grease oil wont let them function as intended.

Starting point would be 4x1.5 with 2 coils cut or 2x1.5 with 2 coils cut

They were only intended to go in the front & middle not the rear it would in theory work with the correct crown wheel but i think would be way to aggressive.

I do apologise

I meant front and centre

I've read on many a forum that you can use silicone diff oil ?
Some prefer , some prefer grease

If oil was a choice would I still go for same set up as regular diffs

The smart diff is designed to work in a similar way to some types of LSD in that off power it acts like a diff and on power it becomes locked. It operates using clamps to lock the small internal gears, this clamping action it tuned by changing the ramp angle and the tension of the release springs.

The gears should be coated in grease as its purpose is to act purely as a lubricant not to alter the handling of the diff like oil is in a standard diff. Using standard silicone diff oil in the smart diff although possible inhibits the effectiveness of the unit.

Well despite all thd negativity

I tried smart grease front / 5k oil centre , 2 k rear . Only had a 5 min Test in car park , gravel surface and it's what can be described as bitey in the corners and pulls out lovely

I'll try properly soon , as currently building up 3 8 2.0s on differnt set ups

2 nitro, i brainless

I'll keep updated on the smart diffs
