mine felt tight at the beginning. I took it appart and use lighter oil (shock oil) on the outdrive shaft and rebuilt it. It was better. Is it stiff in your hands or in the tranny? I heard that some had binding issues (very minor) when tightening the tranny case.

Didnt happened to me but could you check if its rubing or simply too wide. I would try not to overtigth the casing for a while...

I picked up the Losi gear differential last night. I also experienced binding when bolting the transmission case. I loosened the screws that don't attach to the motor plate and it was better. It's still tight but I didnt notice any issues on the track.
I also picked up the RTR shock caps and I'm thrilled with how easy they are to build with the bleeder screws. TQ and win last night to top it off. |

Good Job cryer-evo! I wanted to give another chance to my TQRacing/TeamC/Ansmann mid motor car but the 22 is now so good that I won't look back. I have a smile in my face everytime I hear others diffs barking.

Tried the geared diff on friday in my 22 and found it to work very well on the astro track i race on.Also i run mid motor and the back end is alot more stable and have a lot of rear grip,if any thing its pushs the front end a bit.I am going to try a few things and see how it goes but i am very happy with it.

Ran mine for first time last night with 3K oil as a starter.... WOW!
![]() I was a complete sceptic about the theory behind it being an improvement, as a motorsport engineer...opinion was geared diffs are for 4WD cars and RTR toys... a ball diff design seemed more suited for 2WD... I was very wrong! car was run mid motored on mixed grip carpet track with wooden obstacles at A1 Racing Club UK Completely transformed the car, halved the steering aggression to a very smooth and stable feel on turn in, created the much needed rear end stability and grip mid corner and the launch out of corners is awesome. Was a fair back to back test with nothing changed but the diff (admittedly in a spare gearbox so it can be dropped in and out quicker if needed between races) It did take a couple of runs to get slipper set, had to turn down esc punch setting and brakes as i normally run everything max and use thumbs more carefully and took a fair few laps to get used to the new handling characteristics... does feel different on long big air jumps (doesn't respond as quick to throttle/brake adjustments for landing) Was happy with set up of car before at same venue but it still felt nervous mid corner as on most tracks, so very happy with the new diff... it will certainly be staying fitted but will be testing thicker oils to see what happens. Just hope its as strong as the rest of the car now! Has anyone else tried thicker oils yet? ![]() |

I have the Losi gear diff that I built with black grease on the outdrives and 2000cst oil. It feels to have quite a heavy action and you can feel the gear teeth as you spin it over, it's not super smooth. The o-rings seemed tight when I was building it and it is still tight after the first weeks running. Does anyone have any tips?
Maybe I'm expecting too much as I'm comparing it to the gear diff in my xray touring car that is silky smooth. As an aside it was also a little tight in the transmission but that was easily fixed by backing off the screws a fraction so that isn't the problem. |
