What difference did you find with the stainless steel strip along the bottom? How heavy it is? Thanks Mike |

did'nt have to make a front piece and a rear T piece. It's very easy to make and in my opinion it's much stronger then 2 seperate ones. And less bottoming, only the strip can hit the track!! (sorry for my broken English)...........Appie. |

Ahh OK that keeps the weight down
Going to get one made the same so thanks for the idea Mike |

it is not a fluent solution, but it seems very clean.
What thikness did you choose ? |

Hi Appie,
Is it MADe () of MgSi composite? Could you share the precise width and length of the alu piece you installed on the bottom of the RAT? Cheers, Las |

I just got it at my local construction market.
size: 3mm-30mm and lenth 134,5mm. I first bend the front in the angle, then located the screwholes!! When doing this the other way arround, locate the screwholes first and then bend the strip, the holes will get dislocated. Goodluck and sorry for my broken English |

What a great idea Appie, simple and looks strong. Did you use CAD to design them?

Just using a caliper. Making 2 pieces the same, I just glue them, the backsides with superglue, file it drill it and sand it. That's all. Strong and cheap!
Very easy to make! |

not to nit pick as i think all of these reinforcing ideas are a fantastic idea but on the skid plate would it not make sense to make the leading edge of the metal plate have a mitred edge so it looks like it goes into the plastic so it wouldn't dig into something (like the ground or the track). not only would it look slightly better it would improve the skid characteristics and also the aerodynamics (not that they have a massive effect on the cars anyway.

If you keep bracing things like shock towers etc surely you'll end up breaking the chassis instead, or something which doesn't only take a few minutes to replace ?? Ok for bashing i guess, certainly wouldn't reinforce those parts if racing it.
Maybe you should buy a Traxxas Bandit

Hi Dandare, for a part I have to agree with you, for a part I don't!
I don't see any diff. in buying carbon shock towers and alu hopups, or creating things your self. It's all about money, and when the result gaves me the same............................... I like to make it my self. And the weight is still ok, just 1595gr full. |

I probably wouldn't use carbon shocks towers or many alloy bling parts, the plastic ones are cheap & an easy repair, carbon ones which don't break might then cause the chassis to instead costing time between heats. If, on the other hand it isn't being raced then Hop Up away

Mounted a low profile servo, made a hardfoam block, so I can move my pack more forward. Hope this brings something!
