Default Round by round?

Does anyone know why we don't run "round by round"?

They did this at the spring cup and I thought it was pretty good.

Outdoors is usually round by round as the track conditions can easily change (ie weather)
Indoors is usually FTQ as (in theory) the track is the same in round 1 as it is in round 4.

A fair point, but I just thought with the York track being so much faster by heat 4 that R by R would be better (more fair).

Only thought though its still good fun either way!

That is entirely our own fault, though.
If we bothered to sweep the hall properly before we started then the grip levels would be reasonable from the start (but would still get better as the night goes on). The main problem is lack of people there early enough to do everything

I did change the qualifying to r/r last year for a couple of weeks. It seemed to confuse those unfamiliar with it, and there was a lack of enthusiasm for it. So I changed it back.

Not that dumb, I had no idea either untill the spring cup!

If you finished lets say 10th overall in the first round thats ten points. In the second if you finished 12th that would be 12 and so on. However your best two results are taken and then people ranked from that. The best score possible would be 2.

I thought it was a great system. If you had a DNF in the last round at York when the track is at it's quickest it wouldnt really matter. It makes the most sense for a track like York I think.

I hope you understood that!!

I have mostly raced off road indoors and York is the only place that is FTD. I think with the track evolution through the night round by round would be perfect. It means every round counts, if you have a failure in the last round your night may not be ruined and also some members are better when the surface is more slippy at the beginning of the night but get no benefit from it.

Also if you sleep the floor the track will still evolve and will not be sufficient enough to make rounds one and two count.

It just makes sense I have said it already it makes every round count, surely that is enough?

Round by round PLEASEEEE!!!!!!!

We can have a show of hands at the drivers briefing at the next meeting. I am quite happy to use r/r and if most drivers prefer it, we will use it.
