Certainly sounds impressive and look forward to results being posted from EPR and of course reports from the first national at Stotfold.

I know Tony and the crew are doing everything they can to get it out at the lowest possible price.
I'm sure the pricing info will be available in the next couple of weeks. |

I can assure you it's a fantastic package, obviously as a conversion it won't be X2C money BUT, in my book it is a big BUT, the Kyosho components it uses are near bullet proof so you should not be reaching for your wallet again for a long while after purchase. As previously stated Tony has had the thumb screws out on the suppliers to get it out at the best possible price.
I would carry 1xUM566 wishbones, a set of knuckles/caster blocks & a steering rack (all in pack UM505B), 1xUM519-2 (I believe it is those not the UM519 that is being used on this car) ... that is all ... well less than £30 of spares at full retail. Never broken a Lazer rear tower (since 2008) and only done one RB5 front tower since 2007 (and it was a hell of a head on smash) and the Lazer transmission is awesome; 6 months between diff rebuilds and I have a set of gears that are 3 years old and still running sweat!!! I'm migrating from my own design of RB5 mid-motor, Scorpion, to the DB1 as the stopwatch doesn't lie!! |

Totally agree with you about the robustness of the kyosho's roger.
Have been racing the zx5 sp for the last two years and won the mercc summer series last year racing against all the latest 4wd buggies. I've updated to the fs2 for this year.My sons racing the sp for this year. For 2wd i had the rb5 for 2010 but got the 22 for 2011 not impressed with it. So was looking for a replacement and the db1 looks like it may well be that car.Summer series starts tommorrow so not to much time to pick a 2wd to race with.

1st Major Event
Just in case some people have not seen this. The first BRCA UK Championship and National series was held at the popular Stotfold club. A full Astroturf track with many jumps and humps allowing the club to run track layouts that some have never been raced on and they did a grand job this weekend. The 2012 season started with every team being represented by their respective best drivers in attendance. Statistically consisting of 120 drivers which 115 were F1 and F2 drivers this UK series is arguably the strongest ever. This was the meeting the DB1 was making its debut at a major event! The conversion is some 2-3 weeks old and some thought it would be too early for the car to perform at such a high level so so soon! 1st National - Result Kevin Lee qualified 3rd driving his Kyosho DB1 and finished 2nd in all 3 legs of the main A final to put himself and the car on the podium. Congrats to Kev

Sorry at present only the DB1 'conversion' is available.....
The full kit may not happen till towards the end of the season..... If anyone wants a full kit then we suggest to purchase a 4wd and then the front 2wd parts ...... You also end up with some nice spares that way, like spare diff and so on....

Quote:
DB1 conversion kit - £200 (A good price for what you get) 4wd buggy to use as a donor car - £309 or £350 (looked on Apex models) Front end of the 2wd - possibly £50 So a total Between £550 to £600 for a 2wd. Mmmm I think you can see where I and a lot of other people are coming from, yes I can understand the current people who own 4wd ZX-5 FS buggies this would be worth doing but for people that dont the cost is stupidly high. So come on and let us all know when you get the cost down below £300 for the complete car to get close to compete with the current buggies like Durango, Losi, or Tamiya. You may get more people interested, including me.

Front end parts are waaaay more than £50 I'm afraid. I seriously considered this car and my best mate is building one but the overall costs are more than I can justify right now for the amount of racing I'm doing. It'll be a fantastic car and it was never made a secret that it'd be pricey. It's a shame that a complete or partial car isn't available(yet) as was described in early posts. I was hoping to go down that direction in the hope it'd be a more economical way to jump on board. Having said all that, if I was racing more this year I'd probably throw caution to the wind and get one built. You pays your money and takes your choice eh?
