Whats wrong this one? Id advise on this as it good value. Zero maintenance means more work on the car.

Which would be the better choice between these two?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_3730KV.html

I am just compiling a list of parts to complete the build based on all of your helpful advice. I will post it later so you can have a look and give opinions before I order. I had to go with hobbyking for electronics as wouldn't have been able to complete the build otherwise !

Your based in the UK yes. Ok if you want to race with this are these two motors BRCA legal, if yes toss a coin and go with whatever as they both look good.

I would suggest in buying a really good esc first and then getting a 10.5 motor. I do like this esc at the moment. Ok get one with a reverse. I am going for one of the below but doubt you would need one of these

http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=101830

as well as the LRP flow which is listed most places. Unsure which to go with.

I will be getting the esc which goes with these motors. Richie suggested it a few posts back. Will post my full list later and see what you think.

Shell, undertray, wheels perfect, unsure on the tires though. Esc looks good but whats the cost? I will go over a bit more tomorrow as im a bit stunned by Oosh123's death so will be more with it tomorrow.

Cheers for that Welshy. Top bloke. I think I will get two sets of mad rat wheels and use one set for off road and one set for off road. Which schmacher tyres would you recommend for that? I will double check on all the points you listed. Will be ordering bits tonight. Feel like a right big kid at xmas

Tires for sand I would recommend the full spikes. The blocks I suppose would be good for tarmac but wont be super grippy. Shcumacher used to do onroad wheels for buggies but cant seem to find them and if you can get yellow as green didnt work for me. If you go to team schumacher on google and look on their site they make and sell directly to you.

T650 Full Spike - Rear Tyres - Soft CAT (pr) (£8.50)
T652 Full Spike - Front Tyres - Soft CAT (pr) (£7.99)
T692 Block - Rear Tyres - Blue - CAT (pr) (£8.99)
T693 Block - Front Tyres - Blue - CAT (pr) (£8.50)

I forgot batteries, if you go stick then you may find the car handles a bit back wards so before you buy have a good think about it as you will need to fix it so it doesn't move around on the chassis, left or right. Maybe someone who has done this may have the answer on the ZXR section.

Cheers for that info. The battery that i put in the link is exactly the same dimensions as the nicad that i took out of the car so hopefully should be fine. Had a look on hobbyking earlier and some of the bits I wanted are out of stock at the moment. I'm not too kean on ordering from the international warehouse so will wait until the uk one has them back in stock. Regarding the motor/esc I linked earlier, it is not available from the uk site. I know I would be better off with sensored which that is but would this esc and motor be ok for the time being? would the car cope ok with the power of the 9t motor?

Most look good. Personally not a fan of dish wheels so would go for the JC Racing 5 spokes myself.

the Turf Rippers are decent tyres, for non racing use I would choose them over Schumachers as the bigger spikes and firmer rubber are a good size for general use. The tyres will need foam inserts, the inserts aren't included with the Turf Ripper tyres. If you want to go for the Turf Rippers I have a spare set of 4 NIP I could sell at £9 posted.

A saddle pack battery might be a better choice, use some stick on wheel balancing weights on the bottom of the saddle lipos and you can use the standard battery holders to hold it in place. Saying that, I do use stick pack lipos in my Lazer, it fits inside no problem but you might have to be a bit creative in fitting it in as they are a bit taller than nimh packs. I run mine pushed against the bulkhead in front of the motor, helps move the weight back in the chassis. It's held in place by the battery straps raised up with some washers between the posts and chassis and some servo tape under the pack to stop it moving forwards.

It's because most Imax B6 chargers on ebay are cheap because they are copies. It's well documented that while the originals are correctly calibrated and reliable a lot of the cheap clones can overcharge your lipos and aren't known for lasting too long thanks to cheap components used. When you've seen a few it's easy to identify the copies and I've told several club members to get their money back from the seller when they have turned up with a clone.

All those tyres are for 2 inch wheels as used originally on the ZX. They don't fit 2.2" wheels. The tyres are original CAT tyres.

I run regularly on the beach and while my Optima uses worn Optima full spikes my Lazer and anything newer runs on minispikes. If you want to run full spikes then the ones you want are Schumacher part numbers U6595 and U6596.

Cheers Terry and rondoola. Unfortunately the german hobbyking warehouse doesn't have the motor and esc. I have read some really bad reviews of getting stuff from their international warehouse so will try to stick with the uk or german one. For that reason would these be ok? Sensorless so not ideal. A very good price and its something I could upgrade later on.

Terry they were on the schumie site and originals wouldnt be listed as soft, also they dont look like 2inch, still full spikes are perfect for sand. Also cant seem to find the treaded road tyres that I usrd to have and use on my lazer on a tarmac track, any ideas?

Just ordered the shock oil and diff lube so will start stripping down the car next week and rebuilding. It will give me a chance to see what condition gear parts and belts are in before I place a big parts order.

The Schumacher tyres with a three figure number code are the originals, which used to be available first in soft and hard compounds, then in green, blue and yellow compounds. The U650/652 tyres are in yellow compound. I know what size they are as I have a pile of them here for my early Cats, Procats and Mids.

The treaded road tyres were usually Schumacher Road and Track tyres. All the ones listed are now for 2.2" wheels. if you are happy running rear wheels all round the Venom 88 tyres are probably the best of the lot.

As for beach running tyres, I've come across some large spike tyres from JC Racing, they are tucked away in their 1/10th buggy wheels section.

Terry, apologies yes I found my old Cat tyres and are soft. The Schumie track tyres are superb and I have used them. Unsure why I couldn't find those but nice find and will be buying a set shortly. Cheers..
