Car is all stripped to kit form and every part has been cleaned. Apart from a rusty diff its in fantastic condition. The diff has cleaned up fine and it now buttery smooth. I have ordered most of the parts apart from bodyshell and shock towers which I will get next month. I Managed to tidy up the original bodyshell and under cowl so hopefully will look ok until I get the replacements. I ended up going for the 10t etronix brushless system in the end as it was the best value and came with a programming card. Will start building the car tonight and will post pictures when complete. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to help me out. Much appreciated.

Car is now finished but I am having trouble with the mad rat front wheels. Any sort of tightening causes binding and when on full steering lock the wheels grind on the hub. Putting washers on has eased it a bit but not greatly. Any ideas? I thought these wheels were a direct fit but when looking at the inner rim the spokes sit much closer to the hub than the original lazer wheels.

Never tried Mad Rat wheels myself, but welshy40 insists it's what he uses. I would just trim back the internal ribs until they clear the wishbones. As they are dish wheels as long as you don't cut the internal ribs out completely they will still add strength to the wheel. The original ZX-R wheels were just plain dish wheels with no internal ribbing.
Of the modern wheels available, personally I prefer the JC Racing 5 spokes as they were designed for the old Lazer.

I used a scalpel to trim the inner spokes and all is fine now. Had my first run yesterday and car went really well apart from the 2.4ghz radio gear my nephew had lent me. Got about twenty metres away and lost signal. Just ordered a flysky so should be here tuesday. One thing I did notice is that when on full steering lock and power the lazer front diff makes quite a lot of noise. Is this ok? I put plenty of diff lube in there. I will post some pictures this week. Was great to see it going again.

Unsure but would advise looking at the uj ends to see if the cups rubbing on the uj, its easy to notice, otherwise im unsure why its making noise unless that is the back end is loose and the front wheel is coming off the ground.

A few pics of the Lazer. Getting nearly 30mins runtime per battery so will look at gearing to get more speed. Really impressed with the car though. Goes exactly where you want it to go and is so quiet.

Without undertray, wing and bodyshell. Mad rat wheels and turf ripper tyres.
