XB4 2wd Setup Advice Wanted
Ran my new XB4 for the first time the weekend and ran it in 2wd as that was the only class running. The car was very good and I was pleased with how it ran but I am after a little setup advice. The car was a bit loose on the rear end under acceleration and I was wondering what changes I could make to try to reduce this. The track was a combination of Astro and Grass and was very dry and dusty in places where the grass had worn.

4deg rear toe, softer rear springs, add weights under lipo, loosen slipper, go up a tooth on the pinion, put expo on throttle or just go slow to go fast.

You could use my set up on the Xray set up section , under gwesty .

The X-ray proto got a kick up built in the chassis with custom front hinge pins blocks and a reworked toP deck to screw properly to the angled bulkhead.
Rear shock tower seems different too. You'll notice on pictures some weight bolted to the RR hanger, I would say around 60g, maybe more. They did that for a reason, under lipo weights might just soften the car reactions, not more traction. That was the case with the DB1. |

The way Glen's car runs as a 2wd faster than most 4wd and keeps up and beats a lot of F2 and F1 drivers in the Mid South region you won't go far wrong from copying his setup

what's the fastest way to change from 4wd to 2wd? if I only have one car and want to compete in both classes. sometimes it can be only 5 minutes between 2wd and 4wd heats..

Tested the xb4 in 2wd at Coventry today and it was awesome!
Followed gwesty's set up, bet kept the pistons & oils as I normally run them (6x1.2 30wt rear, 6x1.1 37.5wt front), raised it an extra 1mm due to bumps & jumps and I used the rear holes on the steering rack. It felt unbelievably quick and was really easy to drive. Can't wait to use it indoor at silverstone. Oh, also removed the front diff & replaced it with weights, didn't really notice any difference. |

Ran mine as 2wd for the first time last night and love it
I'm running the gwesty geometry and a shock set up I was given by James Lucas and she is a beast

I added weight (to substitute the diff) the sophisticated way by shoving a bag of old pinion gears I the front diff case. Weigh 5 x 48dp steel pinions between 18 & 23t and there's your weight!

Weight isnt necessary the car generates so much steering extra ballast will make the car very twitchy on high grip astro. Follow glenn Westwoods 2wd set up off petit rc and you wont be far wrong. Also worth trying the shocks over the back on the rear.

I'd think the XB4 in 2wd mode would struggle on dirt. |
