New Cougar at Silverstone Winter Series Rnd 1
Well it was round 1 one of the Silverstone RCMCC Winter Masters Series yesterday.
An awesome event, with a lot of big names in attendance, further details of the series here: http://www.silverstonercmcc.co.uk/wi...ters-13-14.php And some photos of the racing here: http://s210.photobucket.com/user/jwi...14%20Round%201 (And there will be more pics to follow, when I've been through my shots properly!) Schumacher sponsor this series and many of the top Schumacher drivers were there, some running the new forward motor 2wd car seen at the worlds. With the kind permission of Robin Schumacher I was allowed to take some closeup photos of Trish Neal's car. Thanks to Robin and Trish! Interestingly Trish's car features a shorty lipo layout with the belt routed over the top and a new front shock tower protector that sits in front of the carbon tower - looked neat and would add strength to the front of the car (and help protect Silverstone's precious astroturf!) The other cars (Simon Moss, Lloyd Storey etc) were running saddle lipo layout I believe. The cars looked very impressive on the track which was a combination of high grip astro and very low grip lino, with slippery hardboard jump / ripple features, and carpeted larger jumps and corner table top. Simon and Lloyd made the A and Trish won the B final, I'm sure full results will be posted by SRCMCC soon. So, here are the pics:

Yes, but I'm not saying as it's not my place. A question to be emailed to Schumacher in my view.
Sorry, but I had a good chat with Robin, nice chap, but conversation specifics - private |

Looks pretty much like a production car to me so would have thought they would want to get it out this side of Xmas??
The number of really cool looking car choices for next season is getting ridiculous

Id say considering the layout and what the cars bringing to the Market.
The Cougar KR was £190, id hazard a guess they will price it higher at around the £239 mark maybe £259. I doubt they would take it as high as the K1 but you never know.

Oooh I like the front shock cap and mount protection. Looks like it'll fit the sv2.
Finally no more undertray but I wish they would redesign that shell... |

This seems to me as if you drive two wheel drive cars then you are going to need to have the three versions, rear motor for dirt, mid motor of medium to low grip Astro and forward motor for dry high grip Astro.
if the forward grip motor is specific for high grip does that mean if the track gets wet then it will as bad as a rear motor car on wet Astro compared to a mid motor car that is reasonable on low to high grip. I guess if you race in doors then the weather does not come into the equation but for out side hmmmm! Still if you can add weight to the FMP (forward motor position) to give the same response as a MMP (mid motor position) it may work, but then will you not have one heavy car. Looks like the four wheel drive car will be the best option well less lay out possibilities unless some one starts messing with that. |

Simon moss was running his car from the worlds (one in your link) at worksop on Sunday, looks like Simons car has the provision to fit a rear belt tensioner/router as Trish has, seeing how the mi5 has the option of running mid or rear motor I would guess this may be seen as an optional configuration to further tune the car

I see the cars at the worlds was running CV style driveshafts whilst the car at Silverstone is running UJ's, what changes does this make to the handling or performance? I hope the car comes with a gear diff though. |

I do not see the point of the front shock cover, yet another add on bit, with all the work changing the transmission that I suspect will be one of those fads as that they always say keep it simple, when a redesign of the front top bulkhead to have the top shock mount behind the shock tower would do the job better and move weight at the same time as reducing the part count for the car.

There aren't any confirmed details on the car as of yet. We are still very much at the prototype stage so parts are constantly changing as we develop for different surfaces etc.

I've tried to get my local TC Club to run buggies for years but the damage to the carpet due to shock nuts etc has always given a big fat NO Plus less damage to the top of the shocks, great idea ! And less bodge it and scarper than a diy piece of cut off lexan
