help slipper or ball diff 21SC
Just built my SC and just started to set my slipper and ther not enough bite even if i do it up fully?? i have cleaned all parts with brake cleaner brand new pads but its sitll slipping ,could it be the ball diff too loose ??
all biuld as per guid and Durangos website pit tips ect ?? any help would be great |

Usually it's like this:
High pitched (smooth) whiny noise = Slipper High pitched noise with screeching tones in it = Diff However, if your diff is very loose, your diff might sound a lot like the slipper clutch. Therefore, check that your diff gear 'can't' (needs a lot of effort) to slip between the two outdrives. This picture (link) depicts the check. |

I did it this way I even bought some circlip pliers for the job I am going to try some different slippers pads if no good then will dismantle the lot and start again

Just wondering: How much grease did you put in the diff? Also, are you sure the slipper pads and disks are clean and degreased? Also, don't worry too much tightening the diff further: I recall I run mine about 1/2 - 1 turn from fully tightened (that is with ceramic diff balls by the way).

I would recommend putting 2 shims on before the slipper assembly.
put 1 or 2 5x7x0.2 shims on before you put the slipper plates. TD709015 works well for this. I have seen this problem before on some cars and its fixed with these 1 or 2 shims Hope that helps

I had to rebuild the diff anyway as Durango sent me some longer outdrives ,so i rebuild and double checked everything and cleaned and greased as per the "in the pits tutorial" all i did different was to tighten the ball diff ALOT more than the original bulid and all seems ok i will go testing the weekend and find out for sure ,thanks all for the tips and help
