hello Sir ... it is an indoor carpet track.
(I'd bought the car used and it was last ran on an outdoor track prior to me owning it.) I've since rebuilt the diff and shocks. - Diff 7K Fr & Rr - Shock oil 400 Fr & 350 - reduced droop on all shocks - Springs - Looking for super stiff springs. Ended up using AE's springs from a fellow racer (ASC91333: 12mm Front Spring (Orange/4.05lbs)). I believe this is a lot stiffer than TRF's stiffest front big bore springs. Still searching for stiff rear springs. I'm getting incremental improvements in the set-up .. still room for tweaks. |

Is anyone working on a lower carbon fiber deck for the 503... really would like to see one... think I might have tweaked mine after getting hit mid air with a 8th scale Truggy

Well round 2 with my 503.
(Least i have spares now!) Ive notice that the chassis has alot of flex with the rear top deck removed. Even just with the belts at "normal tension" there is alot of pulling the deck up around the rear bulkheads. Even with the the rear top defk install you can see flex. Ive gone and double up on both top decks (as Aftermarket sellers dont seem to like responding to emails) Just a quick shake down run so far only so see what it drives like on race day. Also i changed the rear sway bar links to that of the TRF418 kit.

Yeah the chassis seems to be a little on the thin side... that's why I hope a carbon one comes out soon similar to the 511 with the updated chassis.. but with the shape of the 503.... 2.5mm would be perfect 3mm if some milling to it was done

http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk Excellent quality work. Respond fast to emails. They may need a new chassis plate being a new car, to measure up. They will also do custom work if you can send measurements. Maybe the 503 needs new top decks similar to updates made to the 502X? IMO modern cars are being designed for modern high grip tracks. Thus why not stiffen the chassis up and make it rigid for these high grip tracks? Then fine tune the suspension? 4wds don't need to be as forgiving as 2wds due to the higher grip generation of 4 driven wheels. I have asked Frederik if he can come up with a shorty pack conversion for the 502X, similar to Yokomo, B44.3 and HB 413. Should keep it competitive for a while longer! Why not do the same for 503?

Chassis go in swings and round-a-bouts with Flex. Use to be you had to have a stiff as hell chassis, now its all the rage to have flex, then there be a slow change back to stiff chassis as soft chassis need to be replaced more. (its the same with motorsports)

I can maybe see why you may use these new shafts on the front to stop the "Chatter" vibrations at full lock. Thou using the WO series of shafts i havnt notice any issues from full lock chatter at all.
One other thing, ive doubled up on the kit upper decks (glued together) and havnt had anything bad come out of it. flogged out my Alloy diff out drives after first meeting (the Trf417 ones) Expensive exercise! Lol.

I'm super interested in the 503 and I'm not one for following crowds so I want to give it a try over the more conventional b44 I see at my club
Anything I should know about it ?! Will only be used on astro. Which body shell fits without too much hassle ?! Fell in love with it, looks wise, soon as I saw it. Are the shocks decent ?! Cheers |

Hi,
I have some questions about the TRF503 guys: 1-According to EFRA size rules, what wheels do you use with the rear hex wheel hub (manual part BF14)? 2-And what wheels do you use with the front standard hex and the option 0.5 thicker hex #54406? 3-Last question, about the 54131 Front Upright and his lousy tiny ball bearing, is there any mod to fit the #51272 front upright with his big ball bearings using the same TRF503 WO Assembly Universal Shaft? Best regards |

2-Tamiya wheels 3-What's the problem with the thin bearing? |

With the hex you can use all B44 wheels (proline / JC / Asso)

Nop, with the original 503 hex you can not use B44 rear wheels because it exeeds the EFRA limits. For the front wheels with the 0.5 thicker hex #54406 the asso wheels are ok.
Chris, I use the Tamiya pin pink wheels in the TRF502 and it works fine in dirt but for the TRF503 running in astro and 5.5T motor, the tamiya ones became cheese and the pin broke the wheels (the astro is too agressive for this system). The problem with the small bearing is that it is not as precise and robust than the big one. I noticed more vibrations with the tiny bearings in fast corners for example. Best regards |
