Decent indoor tyres?

Ive killed a set of Schumacher yellow mini pins after 2 meetings indoors.
Admittedly, my heavy throttle finger doesnt help matters...but can anyone recommend any Schumacher or Ballistic Buggy tyres that will work well indoors on mixed surface but that will also offer a decent wear rate?

There arent many tyres that will offer a much higher wear rate you could try schuamcher mini spikes they would proberly last slightly longer but there a bit slower. Yellow pins are the best all rounders for performance and wear rate.

Depending on the surface you've been running on, I'd say that 2 meetings worth of wear is pretty good. Normally with Mini-Pins on a multi surface (Wood/Carpet/Jumps/Mats) one meeting from a set is par for the course.

It's unlikely you'll get the same consistent levels of grip from any other tyre, apart from maybe a Sch. Yellow Mini-spike on a mostly carpet track. But again these will have a similar wear level.

also i noticed balistic buggy do a blue compound, are these of any use over here?

i used the BB blue spike on a local astro track and they were awesome. THat was a fairly long pile astro though, bit longer than most that we come across.

I've just completed the Southport GP (carpet & tarpauling), Durham Regional (carpet, gym mats and wooden floor) & the Bately Supercup (carpet, gym mats and wooden floor), on one set of shumacher mini pins on a B4.

The rears were fairly well worn by the 3rd round of qualifying, but lasted out ok. The fronts obviously have planty left on them.

As these were my first indoor meetings, it was a bit of a learning curve as to how long they would last.

I think in future i will change the rears every 2 meetings and the fronts maybe every 4.

I am a little heavy on the throttle at the moment, so that may have contributed to the wear rate too.

Which are the softer BB compound? Pink or green?

What motor were you running Kecky?

I'm ran my B4 for about 5 or 6 meetings now, and my yellow mini pins still have loads of life left in them.

however, that was with a 10.5. Which has now been swapped for a 6.5L! wahey!
But I don't expect the tyres to wear quite so well.

I found tyre wear was very dependant on track surface and carpet age/type. At newbury, my tyres wore much quicker than at Dudley for example. Also polished/slippery sections are also different. Polished wood is very easy on tyres, but others wear tyres quickly. I still think that yellow minipins are very good tyres, and last well!

One meeting was with a Reedy Ti 12x3 and two meetings with an axiom 19T.
The pins must be 3/4 worn down.
I think one problem may be a couple of my packs of batteries seem a lot 'punchier' than a couple of others, so i've sort of compromised with the adjustment of my slipper, plus the southport GP was mainly carpet.

How far do you let the pins wear down before changing them?

I let them become flat 'bumps' but still a pattern on the tyre then change them. You will still have reasonable grip on carpet with them, because the compound works rather than the tread pattern.

Right, so as long as there is a texture so to speak on the tyre it is still useable (within reason), that should give me another meeting or too then.
They did still have a point to them before the supercup, so i rotated them, to try and even out the wear.

The worn ones do start to go off a tad when you're on a lot of Carpet, but as myself, Paul and Lloyd found at the last Newbury meet that new ones can be AWFUL on the slippery stuff, they seem to bed in after about 4 mins but we all pretty much wrote that run off as soon as we tried the cars in practise - it was like ice skating on the slippery bits, while good fun it doesn't really get you anywhere

Same tyre, just a little harder if its mainly carpet.

Chris, 2 meetings out of a set of pins is good going to be honest.

Greens will likely wear faster on carpet than yellows like they do on tarmac/concrete IMHO. Oh and be rubbish.

As said before wear rates can be massivly different indoors and tyres can still give good grip when visually worn i.e. york you want near spankers, Worksop they can be literally slick and still work. Change when you feel they go off.
