Anybody got any updates on the new 4.0 as regards to performance and how it handles straight from the box?. I'm running an xb2 at the mo but after seeing Toby's(/tobys) at West Bridgford on Sunday I'm seriously looking at changing to one. I've not had a losi for many years and never really liked the look of the 2.0/3.0 but this one could sway me.

The only options I would buy straight away is the weight kit TLR331028 and the front roll bar TLR334039 everything else is in the box.
The gear diff is a good tuning option but not essential straight away. Also we are running AE springs as well.

I love mine every bit as much as the 3.0, definitely a progression of something that was already very good, my initial thoughts straight from the box were jesus it's got some steering, but it's awesome now I've dialled some out. I can't think of another car I'd rather be driving!

The 4.0 seems to be really good with the lay down box on grass, the one I saw was handling the grass(or lack of it)pretty good.

What AE springs would you suggest having Brian and in what conditions do you run the high/low diff option?
Cheers |

For the most part I have been running AE blue on the front and AE green on the rear, up until this past weekend at Oswestry when I ran the diff at 0 height and std hubs with shocks on the rear and AE black spring ( dry buy very loose due to sand coming through astro) I have run the car at +3.5 diff height and on the hubs as well.

Found its been working well on grass and low/high grip astro tracks with minimal changes. Prefer the feel of Avid springs over the TLR ones, it's difficult to explain but they just feel less harsh on track and have put some weight under the servo comparable with the TLR weight kit and that's about it.

Hi mate
if you are at the Bingham regional next week, pop over for a chat about the car, things we've learnt so far etc. My personal recommendation would be to build with lay down, high diff, for starters - you then have a gearbox option either side of it. Cheers Toby |
