Default ASTRO TIME!!!!

Right guys...

I know we keep asking for help...and all the help received so far has been good, if a little light on numbers at times, big thanks though to those who have helped so far...it is very much appreciated...

...but now we need to get serious!

We only had 1 person (other than me Si and Rick) turn out last Saturday, thanks Adam, which made progress slower than we'd have liked, so a lot of the track is still awaiting attention before the astro can be laid.

And here's our latest problem/challenge...the astro will be here on Wednesday!!! and we can't have it lying around the car park for very long, in fact we need it off the car park and laid before August, as the onroad club has a busy calender in August, leaving us only a few potential days to deal with it in reality.

So, once again, the call is going out...anyone in the area who would like to race on a fantastic all weather all year round outdoor offroad track pretty much any time they want, could we please request a small bit of your valuable time to help get it finished? Without a good number of people around this stuff will not get laid at all...it is heavy stuff and we really do need all the help we get, a good number of helpers will make it a much easier job!

We will be at the track this coming Saturday...21st July...to do track prep and lay astro from about 10am, and we'll be there all day, so any time you can spare will be gratefully welcomed, we know it's less fun than racing, and there's a SWORDS round on Sunday, but it is all in a very good long term cause that you will all benefit from for a long time to come !

As soon as it's all laid we will then be running as many race meetings as the calender and weather allows...and that is where the real fun starts...I can't bloomin wait!!!

Let us know here if you can help out...if you post here then I'd hope it'll help show others that it'll be a fun and constructive day

Hi Andy,

Not about this weekend as discussed BUT I can spare a couple of hours tomorrow night if you need a hand, not sure whether the astro is just getting dumped tomorrow or if you'll need some help lugging it about, if so let me know.

Cheers

I'm not sure what's gong on tomorrow night, there was talk of Rick and maybe Si doing some wacking I think (either Weds or Thurs), I'm flat out with work so can't make it along for much more than the delivery really, so I'm not sure what the plan is...maybe Si will post up to confirm if he knows more.

If there are people there then there is work to do for sure if your able!

Right, lorry is booked !!!

Astro will be with us around tomorrow lunch time

There will be three of us there on Thursday evening with a couple of wackers to flatten off what we can. If anyone would like to come along and help, I will find you something to do. Won't involve moving astro tho, think that'll be too heavy for just a couple of us !!

1:05PM flight from Exeter to Sharm El Sheikh, I will provide the passenger list as proof that I'm not bunking off, honest or bring the club back some large fiberglass pyramids from duty free as track features

Sorry Andy me and Steve H are away racing bikes this weekend.

When are you planning on the next one? I'm thinking it'll take more than 1 day.

Pah...racing...what sort of excuse is that?

Suspect we'll be down there quite a lot now til it's done...even the odd evening/afternoon as our schedules allow...but...next work party after this Saturday will be next Saturday, so 28th July, and possibly even the Sunday, 29th, as well...depending on the turnout/interest/progress...but whats the betting people would rather go racing on a Sunday...

Our problem is we need to get it all laid and get the site looking tidy by 1st Week of August...Thursday 2nd to be precise as the onroad club are holding a lot of big meetings during August/September, and it we need to get the place looking tidy for that really...even if it's not entirely for us to race on, it reflects on the onroad club too!

If we can get it done by that August date then we can run regular evening meetings through August/September as light allows, and start trying to fit racing in at weekends too where the busy local calenders allow...

We're not sure John, people seem to be pretty quiet on the subject...I think they are all scared!!!

Def me, you, Si, Kev, Martin, Rych, Rob Paynter for a bit, trying to convince the Dowdings too, but don't know for sure on them.

DCM...oh it's like the COBRA stuff alright...only bigger/wider pieces from what I can remember...we've worked it out at 0.75 tonne each roll roughly...we plan to cut a lot of it down into shorter, more manageable lengths to move it...and we have all sorts of cunning ideas to try out!!!

We will move it, and I'm sure it'll be hard work

The dowdings are a no sadly...

As for tools...long poles for levering the astro over...long strong ropes...winches...anything you think might be useful in the quest for rolling and moving astro!
