Default esc options

hi all ! wanting to know what esc people are using, I've got a speed passion but got too many options and just can't get a happy medium. so i put a nosram pearl in and is a lot better but its now died :thumb down: i prefer the version 2 of the pearl but their expensive so wondering what others are using ?? unless someone has a nosram pearl for sale

Not quite Stu they are more controllable and smoother plus the power band they have if geared correctly you turn everything off!

same as hobbywing v2.1 and hpi flux pro.
Tbh for most uses the hobbywing xerun 60a is fine, only low wind mods in 4wd get in a bit hot

I've run H/W 60's and 120's which are great speedos, and really good value for money. The V3 is out now, which by all accounts is a great bit of kit, but it's unfair for me tor recommend it as I haven't had a chance to try one yet. I do know the price has gone up, but doesn't it always On the flip side you may well be able to get some good deals on the 2.1's now

In 4wd I've recently swapped my H/W for an Orion r10 Pro, and I'll back Chris up on this one. They may come out of the same factory and have very similar software but it definitely more drivable and with the same motor I've been able to take all the boost and turbo off yet still go quicker. The JE deal is very good, and TBH the only reason I bought the Orion kit, as the speedo is £££ to start with, and then £60 quid for the programming box is a bit nut.

well i have seen a few H/W 2.1 120 amp esc's being used.

so for value and performance it HAS to be good. yes i am sure you get really good ones out there but then the better you go with a product so will the $$$$ go up.

i know a lot of the guys use the H/W in there 1/10th and 1/8th and it looks like they get better performance than the branded castle and orion.

i have just bought a H/W setup. never raced electric but acording to the reaserch i have done it is a nice piece of kit.

if you are after a budget the H/W sc8 120 amp and if you are after a nice esc that is a little bit better then the xerun sct 120 pro.

acording to the info i found the sct 120 pro is better in many ways. has also more functions then the std sc8.

BTW... the sc8 is aparently water proof... i do nto want to test it out but hey.... maybe it is good for those wet days.

thanks everyone for the info, once I've got some more belts fitted I'm gonna try using different software on my speed passion as running stock isn't really working for me. then might go for the r10

No Mark the HW you have got is fine you just need to get rid of that stock software and put the mod software on and that will take away all the confusion you are having programing it!

930mod or 119mod are both effective but easy to setup.
(Available on the HW website.)
