Use of Gyro's in 1/10th Off Road
FYI,
recently had an interesting question from a Scottish racer about the use of Gyro's, specifically "Drift Gyro's", in 1/10th off-road racing. The answer from Paul Worsley as I assumed the case would be: Hi John, I am not familiar with the equipment used on 'Drift Cars', but I assume they use a gyro connected to the steering. If this is the case, they are specifically not allowed at Off-Road events. With the exception of Speedo programs, anything that directly controls the car (instead of the driver) is not allowed. Check rules 23.12 and 23.13. Best regards, Paul. 1/10th Off-Road rules: http://www.brca.org/?q=sections/subs...on-rules/13871 Maybe one day someone will come up with something innovative but unfortunately this isn't it. Keep the thinking caps on

Never heard of a gyro used in off road. think that would make it difficult to go round corners. I used one in my drift car once as you spend 90% of the time sideways and it did help, but since fitting a digital servo the gyros dont work properly with them so i took it out and now rely on skill.

LRP and a gizmo on the 2wd drive cars at the 93 Off Road Worlds in the UK. Banned at or after the event.

Banned at the event as it gave to much of an advantage, it controlled throttle and steering, so you told the car how fast you wanted it to go and how tight a turn, the gyro would then control the steering to keep it in the direction you wanted it, and it would also detect wheelspin, so would back the throttle off if the difference between front and rear exceeded a certain percentage.

anything that puts the driver's head in the car more will cause lap times to tumble, and take away the guesswork. at the moment we're having to rely a lot on visual acuity and 'the groove'. |

I was pulled up once racing in Belgium GP a few years ago after my 2WD car went thought scrutineering. I was using an old KO FET with the external FET box and they wanted to check it was not a gyro.
