Default Shorty pack on the DEX210

I am dicing on whether to:

1. Buy a normal stick pack;
2. Buy a Shorty PAck, or
3. Get some saddle packs (and make a saddle pack conversion)

I will add that I may buy myself a 4wd at the end of the year - not decided on which one though.

I just want to know what the lowdown is on the DEX210 with a shorty pack - what does it do?

A shorty is a lot lighter than a stick pack or a saddle combo. It is also makes weight distribution more adjustable - Move the battery to the back and place the foam "packing " to the front for more rear end...... and visa versa,

saddla packs makes just sence if you run them in in a 4wd too.

i just run short packs. you can balance the car better in a short time with no big set up works.

Interesting you should ask ..

Just done the conversion on mine and my lads last week.

Installed a Nano Tech pack, pushed as far back as it will go, with a sheet of lead under to bring to the same weight as a std lipo. Weight bias is 63% rear compared to a stock 300gm lipo of 61%. And the after running indoors at Caldicot last week I came to the conclusion the I like the set up very much.

More rear traction, better rotation, lighter and more nimble steering .... whats not to like

We will be running outdoors on astro at WORM tomorrow ... ands looking forward to trying the new setup ...

Hi

Just to let you know i went to a shorty in the dex210 and dex 410

Both save me over 100 grams in weight which gets me nearer to the min weight.
I have chosen the lighter = faster option and found it much easier to drive

In the 210 i have both battery blocks in brass aswell as the rf hanger in brass 3/3
The battery is 22mm from the brass front block filled with foam spacers.
Gear diff and shocks reversed with hole drilled in rear arm therefore keeping droop adjustment.
The car has loads of steering and plenty of rear grip and rotates in the corners easily

The 410 has the rear brass weight ctr and sides.
otherwise std

Car turns well and balance is great.

we run on indoor astro so i have adjusted the oils softer to allow for lighter cars and works brilliant
I run 10.5t blinky mode and in corners can keep up with some MODIFIEDS

Hope that helps

The only advantage of buying the normal pack would be the additional runtime the higher mAh-rating would allow you; otherwise, for racing, you don't need anything rated any higher than 3500 (or so) mAh.
By using the shorty pack it allows you to custom weight your vehicle, whether it's through the use of a lipo plate (as others have suggested) or by placing sticky weights where you want them in the car to meet your personal preference.
Saddle packs would allow you to have batteries that would be dual purpose, as they could also be used in any 4wd you purchase (which tend to use a lot more mAh than 2wd cars).

So.... it basically comes down to you.
