G2 motor direction
Does it matter which way the g2 motor is mounted? I currently have the spur on the right as you look from the rear.

thats right as long as you run clockwise on your circuit

Hi,
Yes, that is the usual orientation. The last silver can motor I used had a little red blob of paint on one of the nylon studs that held the endbell on - this was close to one of the solder tags and if you wired the positive lead from your speedo to this tag (and negative to the other ag of course) you got the correct rotation direction. However, there have been several breeds of G2 silver can motors over the years and some have had very different running characteristics from others. Some were said to run "better" if you actually wired them in reverse and used them on the opposite side of your car. Drivers have also tried running them in in reverse (and underwater) to bed the brushes in at a different angle. Both the above work by exchanging rpm for torque, or vica versa. Depending on your track size and layout you might get a better result if you swap motor sides and rotation direction? Try it and see? One thing though - make sure your handset and speedo are configured right. The speedo must show the correct light colour/sequence for throttle when you push te stick forwards, and likewise for brakes. If your car goes backwards when you push the stick forwards, change the wiring on the motor, don't reverse your throttle bias on the handset otherwise you'll be using the slower brake/reverse speedo function to drive forwards, which never ends well!
