I did it for about 2 years was a lot of fun and about 3 times as expensive as rc car racing, a decent bike 2nd hand is gonna be £1000 + you need reasonable helmet gloves minimoto knee sliders.

Good fun but I get mutch more enjoyment from my gsxr 600 track bike which only cost me £800.

bear in mind a set of real motobike tyres costs £200 a pair of mini moto racing tyres is about £100.

I used to race here.

loads of info etc on the site, if you do get one get a 4.2 hp air cooled as the higher hp bikes require mutch more in parts etc.

believe it or not I have some trophies from my mini moto racin days

dunno about the liverpool area but the £100 ebay bikes are rubbish, I bought one 2nd hand for £20 at a car boot sale, engine was a chinese copy of a 2 stroke strimmer engine with badly moulded plastic cases frame was bodged toghter out of any old tin and the fuell tank leaked like a sieve all over the ht cap

the £1000 2nd hand bikes have polini engines made for minimoto racing and decent frames brakes etc plus you can source parts and rebuild these ones rather than just rounding off the metal ( made from old cheese ) bolts then throwing the whole thing in the bin.

remember your first realy cheap rc car from argos cost about £15 did about 10 mph for 2 mins on 12 aa's then broke when you looked at it wrong and was only good for the bin = £100 ebay minimoto.

this is a grc and has an old polini engine for £100 its a steal unless every bearing is shot + the engine is kipperd.

this is the same as the bike I used when I raced a few years ago.

I have some pics somwhere.

as for tracks ask your local go kart tracks if they have a minimoto night or know of a venue that does.

some places do arive and ride where you can hire one of their bikes helmets sliders etc for £15 and see how you go.
