So I am looking at rebuilding some of my cars and was thinking why use horrible black grease etc. in cars that will not run. What are people doing to help reduce rust and keep things clean and stop seals etc from degrading.

To stop rust a light coating of WD40 and for seals and orings a drop of 3in1.

Or just use a little clear silicon grease

sillicone grease for your metal bits and if you havent got new plastic parts, armour-all car dash cleaner gives a clear sillicone coating and makes them nice and shiny.

Lift em up - I don't know who makes em but there are certainly small stands out there for display so your tyres don't flat-spot. I have a few cars built for display tho the only one on display is my original rc10.
I can't say I've done anything to protect it really - it's had oil in the shocks since I built it about 12-14 years ago, and it's never leaked. Most of that time however it was in a box filled with foam stuff, so it didn't have weight on the wheels.
