Avante new build
So finished the build of the Avante. This was the start of the TRF buggies, if it wasn't for this beauty you would not of had the string of TRF buggies of today.
Absolutely stunning to look at and a well, slightly engineered buggy.. The helmet decal was a rite pain and didnt go to plan but the rest is just sheer beautiful and will look stunning on the shelf........... CLICK TO ENLARGE....... |

Cheers Daz,
I must admit, when I started racing back 1988/89 I wanted an Avante. I could not afford one. I ended up with a new Terra Scorcher. Excellent buggy back then, but it wasn't an Avante. Got one now though...... |

Brings back great memories. I also had a Terra Scorcher as my first buggy, then discovered racing!
Bought an Avante from my local model shop, it had been reduced as they'd had it ages. Still took ages to save for it on paper round money! Needed a ton of thread lock...Loved it. Bought an Egress after that, I loved that car. I was the first person at the club to get rid of the Futaba 112B (I think?) and buy a proper ESC, a Nosram. The car flew in comparison to the Futaba, and ran for longer, cooler. Then got up to BRCA level and had to go to Schumacher. Good old Tamiya. I could spend a fortune. This is a could be a very bad area of the forum for my wallet! |

You can get cheaper - ish kits if you buy from Yahoo Japan. There are different online firms offering the purchase and shipment process from Japan. If you're very lucky it is possible to buy direct from Yahoo Japan. I use JAUCE and have bought lots of cars and kits from there. Plenty of 1988 Avante, Avante 2011, Avante 2001, Avante Black Special, Egress and Top Force Evolutions pop up every month (the Evos go for prices that make the Avante look cheap)
Look in my previous posts at the for sale posts - all of which bar the NIB Egress's are JAUCE purchases. It's not a fortune saver after shipping and taxes but if you're careful you can save enough to make it worthwhile. I bought and sold enough kits and cars to pretty much cover the cost of keeping the Tamiya commemorative Porsche RSR kit (I was going to sell it but it's just too nice) |
