Default novak gt7 help.

hi all.

my dad has recently got a novak gt7 speed controller, and has taken off the chip / board, thinking that it wasnt needed, i too thought the same, its not in the instructions as far as we are aware....

is it neccisary to have on or is it just like having a power cap on it ?

he has a power cap fitted on the speed controller as normal.

Default Regulator?

I'm guessing here, because I've never used on of these speedos, but from the pic it looks like it might be a voltage regulator.

Is there some writing on the 3-legged chip? Maybe something like 78LM05 or something similar?

It's one of these.

Or

Later GT7 came with a pre-wired external diode.
