Default HPI Cup Racer - any drivers here?

I've not been able to find very much user information about HPI's new mini-sized chassis, 'true tenth' scale Cup Racer. I think I'd enjoy racing in a 4wd mini class , especially with in-scale, retro bodies.

Agreed there - I think the only difference is the body and tyres. Diffs are ball diff in the rear, gear diff (with metal outdrives) in the front.

I have to say, I love the look of the chassis:

It's a little too expensive at £180 or so for the moment, perhaps it'll come down a little later in the year.

The nearest comparable RC cars to this are the ABC Genetic and Xpress mini chassis, AFAIK.

Hi, ive got a cup racer. Im well pleased with it overall, although there are some issues, but there is with many r/c's.

One been the battery tray. Its well designed into such a small chassis, but im running the shorter 215mm wheel base with a tamiya mini body and its a ten min job taking the pack out and putting it back in after charging.

The front camber. Half the front end has to be shifted just to access the camber screw. Body posts, and top arm holder has to come off and still its awkward. Not what you need while tyring to find the best setup out on track.

Ive ran 4 packs through it (5100 6 cell nimh) and the front diff pinion gear has sheared off the 3 plastic lugs (need to bring out a alloy/steel replacement) and i had a screw back out on the spur mount, which tore up the rear of the spur. This is with a VXL brushless system in it though

But the good bits make up. The body is imense quality, i opted for the 510 and it looks great with light buckets for L.E.D'S, 4 variety of wing mirrors, chrome bumpers, plates and wipers. Ive shelved mine and run the mini body.

The stock tyres offer good grip and the shocks are nice quality but need heavier oil imo.

Im thinking of selling it though as i fancy a photon to run at the track.
