My thoughts exactly, I've got one on order. Should be some fun for the weekends! I might post a small write-up on the performance etc when I get it running.

Probably the best shaft drive crawler out of the box there is on the market. Be aware you will need 3 channel radio for the dig and a small lipo pack to power the truck.
Standard practice is to strip the axles and lube the worm drives with marine grease, makes the gears last a lot longer.

Thanks- I've read that there are 2 too many shims in the axles from the factory that need removing. I'de like to try and make my saddle lipo's fit if possible. If not, then the smaller pack will have to be done. Is Marine grease only available from specialist outlets? I might have a look down B&Q...

Yeah, everyone who has rebuilt the axles usually takes 2 shims out. The lipo pack needs to be around 80mm x 35mm in size, either a 2S or 3S, to fit on the link plate. Anything bigger will foul the links. Look at around 1500mah packs. That should get you up to an hours crawling from it, the 1500mah packs in my twin motor berg crawler will run for over half an hour with 1500mah 2/3A cells no problem.
Not surprisingly marine grease is available from boat chandlers, a search on ebay will throw up many suppliers of small tubes.

Well, after I received it I stripped down the axles and applied marine grease as suggested. I took out the additional shims too. After installing the electronics I found that my usual saddle Lipos didn't fit.
Not wanting to spend more than necessary, I bought a 1400mah 7.2v NiMH Micro pack, and that fit perfectly (it also gave over 40 mins of serious hill climbing and crawling). Having taken it out twice now, I'm really impressed with the performance! It is built very strong, and can get over incredible inclines. The worm gear drivetrain comes into its own on steep descents. I've just bought a 1500mah 2 cell Lipo pack too. I'll post some pics up soon.
