do i need a really good speedo if its only in a 2wd?
as above. Do i need a top spec esc when 2wd doesnt put as much strain on the speedo. Want to treat myself to a new one but dont want to waste money if its not neccessary. Will be going in an x6

depends what motor you are running. If you are running a 6.5 or slower then you should be able to get away with a more basic spec, like a Speed Passion LPF. I think most of the cheap ESC like the nosram Evil only take around 8.5 or slower.
Only thing to remember with the X6 is that the motor is inboard so the inside of the car runs a bit hotter than a normal 2wd, therefore you don;t want to run a speedo that it right on it's theoretical limit, as it may thermal.

I've run a LPF with a 5.5T in 4WD (inboard with fan) without thermalling, so you should have no problem with 2WD.

Have to say I was so impressed with my Speed Passion LPF that it was followed the next week with Speed Passion V3.0 motors and last week with a GT2.0 Pro speedo.
I think I've tried most stuff (in other peoples cars admittedly) and for me the Speed Passion stuff is just perfect for me. I don't think you will be disappointed and at about £115 for the LPF (including the programing card) I really don't think you can go far wrong!!! |
