Default 511 rear hubs? FAO Pidge!

Just built my 511, and out of the box, with the kit rear hubs the ball cups catch on the wheels.

The instructions state to put the outer balls in front of the hubs. But do it that way and they catch. So I swapped them to the rear, and put the inner mounts on the rear too.

Now, looking at the TRF team cars (see pics at http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/euros2009/day4/), they are running a totally different rear hub with 3 vertical ball positions, so the balls go upwards, rather than outwards.

What part is that? Is it available? It makes sense, as then roll centre height can be adjust at both the inner and outer end. And presumably fixes the kit problem I encountered.

Check the manual again. You have probably put the hubs on the wrong side. The hub labeled "R" (part E2) should sit on the left side (on the arm labeled "L")

Why it´s labeled that way? Well, the TRF501X had the same parts and had the "R" hub on the "right" side.

So you don´t need the alu hubs to fix that.
The way you solved it is actually an option. Nothing wrong with that. Just a different setting "TRF501X style".

The alu hubs are Tamiya option part #53962. They offer more setting possibilities just like you say and are not left/right specific.

Aha! Yes! We (ie, not me) put the R on the right and the L on the left, as one would presume.

But yes, flipping the hubs will work too.

And, thanks for the Tamiya part number, I couldn't find it. But, at $51, I don't think so!

Thanks guys
