Could someone please explain to me the advantages/disadvantages of the various radio operating frequencies available ie : 27/40mhz AM/FM?

Thanks

hi mate,

i beleive on 27 mhz there are less than 13 frequencies including splits .. ?

on 40 mhz there are over 25 maybe 30 frequencies..

you will have less chance of a clash on 40, but alot more people are on 40 mhz at race meetings so the 27 mhz would seem to be the best option, most of the top radio sets are on 40 mhz..
c
fm and am are the different types of wavelegnth lol if thats spelt right..

alot seem to be going for the spectrum conversions on there handsets which is a very good idea but can be very pricey, you probs already know about it but they come in wheel and trigger too ..

hope this has been of some kind of help to you mate ..

The more people that go to specktrum means more 40meg bands free at race meetings

27MHz is also used by toys, park flyer aircraft and CB radio so you are much more likely to get interference than on 40MHz which is RC cars only.

FM gives a clearer signal than AM (just like your kitchen radio).

Lots of people have now gone to Spektrum, probably 50% at most of the races I attend. Suits me because there is less chance of a clash on 40MHz, and I have never had intereference issues anyway (always use quality gear, Futaba is the best IMHO)
