Default Split Damper guides?

All,

Just stripped a full set of Associated B4 dampers to find all the white plastic guides that sit around the seals had been cut! This is the thick one in the middle and the 2 thin ones. The car came from a guy who used to work for Associated in the US so I think this must be a tweak but have no idea what it does for you.

Any ideas guys?

What part is split?

Is it one of the four, white clips in the picture above.
(Below the black o-rings.)

If so then they are like that from new, they are a split retaining ring.

MiCk B. :-)

Hi Jim

this was old school to reduce fricton and allow the parts to fit better.

there were some over size thin spacers at one time so the c clip would not click in easy and the O rings got damaged.

have not done this for a few years now, think some people still use this idea though.

hope that helps sounds like you are still dealing.
