ESC & Motor for Short Course Trucks
Hi all, looking for some advice on motor/esc choice for sc racing.
Have noticed on US forums a lot of people are running 1/8 esc and 550 motors on 2s lipo, is this necessary or will a 540 motor on 1/10 esc be ok. Thanks in advance for any info. |

if you are running 2 wheel drive 540 will be fine,if you are running 4 wheel drive it will be ok but you may find the motors and esc get hot, moving to 550 motors keeps the temperature down and give loads of torque,i have run my Hong-nor with both motors, personally prefer the 550motor as the pinions are mod 1 size so idealy suited to the 5mm shaft of the 550 motors.

In my SC10 I run a fusion exceed race 10.5 sensored BL, gives loads of power and the speedo is very programmable. I bought the ickle programmer for the Exceed brushless range, 18 quid well spent.
For my Hong Nor SCRT10 I got the fusion exceed 7.5 HV 550, for the same reason`s as the above post, plus I had already got the programmer. I have a range of pinions for it, from the kit 13 all the way upto a 20. Should be adequate for racing with a 2s. For bashing I have got a 3s |
