I'm just about to get in to the 1/10th scale scene and I've bought a 2nd hand electric buggy with a few spares. A few of the electric items are listed below. Are these items any good? I realise they may not be top notch but your views would be appreciated! New Novak GT7 speed controller New Peak Racing Raven Motor 15 X 2 New Peak Racing Raven Motor 10 X 2 New Infinity Motor all motors are 540 size 2 x GP 3300 battery packs and 1 x GP 3700 battery pack all items have corally connectors thanks AdznKi |

Is this stuff used and in "New" condition? If so...
There are too many details here that you have to look over before you know you aren't getting something that has been used beyond its life span. You can't tell the condition of the commutators on those motors until you can get up really close. The same goes for those batteries; how do you know they were charged properly during their life span? I know you want to save money; we all do. But sometimes, when it comes to motors and similar electronics, buying new will save you money in the end. I bought a brushed motor when I came back into the sport because it was cheap, but I bought a brushless and I couldn't be more glad I spent the extra money for it. It has outlasted four brushed motors and is still going. There you go; advice from experience! |

Novak GT7 is a very good brushed speedo.
Peak Raven's are cheap budget motors. Not very good. Infinity motors - The Infinity motors from the UK tend to be pretty high quality but it might be some other brand you have there. GP battery packs - if still in good condition are still good packs for 2wd buggy. If they are knackered, well, they are knackered. Whether new or used these are old cells now and will have been sitting around which isn't always great for them. Second hand used batteries are always a risky buy. Motors are risky to a lesser extent, but it is easy to buy a motor that has only got a few good runs left in it before it wears out. ESC's etc are usually a fairly safe buy, you can normally tell how well they have been cared for by the condition of the wiring and labels. They tend to just work until they go pop (if ever)! |
