Stripped my idler gear in mad rat brushless
After only about 10 runs i've stripped the idler gear (125000490) in my RTR brushless mad rat gearbox. The car is standard at the moment so while i've got it in bits i'm going to ball race it all. However I wanted to know if there is a stronger gear available as an upgrade because this seems to be the weak link in the transmission. I've seen on't web that others have suffered the same fate.
Looking fwd to reading your suggestions. Thanks, Glenn. |

May be your slipper is too much tight... you can always try this:

Thanks guys. I did tighten the slipper because I was getting too much slip. However even after I did this something was still slipping. Maybe it was the diff slipping? Seemed worse between half and full throttle on the carpet I was racing on. Do these other makes of idler have the same dimensions then?

First is just the replacement one you need. I think if you run in carpet and use idler alu gear and the slipper is too tigt may be you streep the diff teeth.
fisrt of all tight enough your diff (not until death... ) and try your slipper then. Sure you have fast guys on the track that can help you. |

Sounds like your diff was slipping, and the stress from the slipper and gears trying to rotate causes your top shaft to heat up and melt/strip the plastic idle gear, I had this last week with my tc02. make sure the diff is not set lose and back the slipper off until your happy with the way the car responds when you push the throttle |

stripped mine recently too, own fault, running a tight slipper locked diff and 1/8 buggy tires on the team c short course...
replaced the idler with a steel one but now my gearbox is noisy... i carefully cleaned out all the plastic shards i could find, but the box now seems tight and loud... anyone else experianced this problem? |
