Default Masking chequers/checkers/diamonds

I fancy some of the above on my new shell(it'll be airbrushed BTW).

Just wondering what the preferred method of masking them is?

Do folks use liquid mask and a very steady hand on the knife(rules me out then)?

Is carefully cut masking tape the way to go?

Are there pre-cut masks out there?

I was thinking of using 2" masking tape, drawing the chequers on,cutting them out and then putting them on the inside of the body/wing where I want them.
A bit tedious I know...

All of the above

Liquid mask
precut masks(if you cant find any give me a shout and I can make one for you)
tape - either cut by hand as you would in liquid mask or lay a grid down with the tape then just cut the center squares out.
