Question about servo for the Mad Rat

Hi Guys,

As most of you already know, I bought myself an rtr Mad Rat. I've decided to keep this stock and let my Daughter use it, as she's shown a keen interest to driving it, albeit erratically. She's only 4 and calls it the Mousey car lol. :-D

Anyway, the rtr car came bundled with assembly instructions which seem easy and straightforward. This has now spurred me on to getting myself the £50 kit.

Now, my question is; Will ANY servo fit into this, or do servos come in various sizes? If I need a specific size servo, would somebody be so kind as to tell me which I should opt for?

Also, does anybody have the part # for the stock rtr servo, as the assembly instructions dont quote it.

yes they come in various sizes but I think the one you need is labled as standard servo the rest are labeled as such
micro
large etc

I would have throught it would be this one that came in the rtr:

But I would recommend getting a metal gear servo as they will be pretty durable. Ansmann do this one and I think it would be worth the extra ten pounds.

I have a ko pro I got from the forum and I like the face that the first gear is in plastic, so hopefully that breaks before the servo burns out if there is a problem

That metal geared servo looks pretty good for the price, so i'll get myself a couple when funds allow.

I currently run a Futaba S9451 in my rat, some people i know run Savox's in there rats.

when i 1st built it i stuck a Futaba S3004 in there as that's what i had spare at the time, but i found the 3004 didn't have the strength, often i'd go into turns & the front wheels remained pointing straight when i had the wheel on the transmitter locked over until some of the speed & inertia was scrubbed.

the Ansmann RTR servo's (at least those i've seen branded as AS servo's) are basically rebadged Futaba S3003's which are 3004's with a plastic bush fitted instead of a bearing.
