Default Would a stock B4.1 RTR be BRCA legal for Regional Meetings?

Hello,

Thinking of starting to race, but with little experience of racing.

My weekends are often taken up with work, but it looks like I can do all but one of the Scottish Open dates of 2011, but only half of the rounds at my local track (Dunfermline). (although the dates may still change I understand!)

So would an off the shelf Team Associated RC10 b4.1 be legal for the Scottish Open, which follows BRCA electric board regs?

or would I be looking at changing the motor just to take part? I think I read that all RTR set ups are legal, to encourage new comers!

The RTR version of the b4.1 has a Reddy 3300Kv motor, but I dunno what it's turn is rated at?

Default b4.1

yes it would be ok, just make sure whatever battery you use is on the brca list and you are good to go, you may want to change the motor to something quicker though the more you get used to driving the car.

The battery doesn't have to be on the list either. There is a rule in there somewhere, that says if it's an RTR type battery, and the capacity isn't above a certain amount (can't remember what it is) then it's ok.

Only thing you might want to do is change to tyres - as some series have tyre controls, and the kit ones wouldn't be up to much anyway.

Wouldn't it have to be a sensored motor?

I suggest you have a word with the organisers. Although the rules are there for several reasons I don't think anyone would want to see a beginner turned away.

No, I don't think it has to be a a sensored motor but if you race in national events then you would be advised to go to a sensored brushless motor option, because of the smoothness and accurate controll over the brushless motor.

The motor "should" be on the BRCA list if it is being used at a regional meeting, however as said above, check with the organsiers and hopefully common sense will previal. At most of our region you would be allowed to run it no problem, just cannot speak on behalf of others....

I can't see it being a problem as were looking to encourage people to race and many will do exactly the same and buy a RTR car. I think you may need to get new tyres and you will need a lipo sack for charging.

Head over to http://sorcinfo.org/ and you'll find the information on the series and you can also contact Dom the secretary for clarification.

Hope to see you at the track.

Cheers

Kenneth
